The South Korea national badminton team () represents South Korea in international badminton team competitions. The team emerged as the Sudirman Cup champion in 1991, 1993, 2003, and 2017, also won world women's team championships in the 2010 and repeated this feat in the 2022 Uber Cups. Badminton Korea Association (BKA, 대한배드민턴협회; ''Daehan baedeuminteon hyeobhoe'') is the national sport governing body, governing body for the sport of badminton in South Korea. History Badminton was spread in Korea after National Liberation Day of Korea, Liberation Day and was not organized until the establishment of Badminton Korea Association in 1957. It later become an official sport in Korean National Sports Festival since 1962. In 2019, Yonex replaced Victor as Badminton Korea equipment partner for Badminton Korea Association. The 1989 Asian Badminton Championships was the 9th edition of Badminton Asia Championships. It took place from December 18 to December 23, 1993 in Shanghai, China. The 1992 Thomas & Uber Cup was the 17th tournament of the Thomas Cup, and the 14th tournament of the Uber Cup, which are the major international team competitions in world badminton. The 1992 final stage was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on May 16, 1992. China were the defending champions for both the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup. The 1990 Thomas & Uber Cup was the 16th tournament of the Thomas Cup, and the 13th tournament of the Uber Cup, which are the major international team competitions in world badminton. The 1990 final stage was held in Tokyo, Japan, in May 1990. Host city selection Singapore, Japan and South Korea submitted bids to host the tournament. The 1988 Thomas Cup & Uber Cup was the 15th tournament of Thomas Cup and the 12th tournament of Uber Cup, the most important badminton team competitions in the world. The tournament was held from 23 May to 4 June 1988 at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. China won its third title in the Thomas Cup and in the Uber Cup, after beating in the final round Malaysia and Korea, respectively. Host selection In January 1987, Malaysia submitted their bid to host the Thomas and Uber Cup to the IBF following their success of hosting the World Badminton Grand Prix Finals in December 1986. The Thomas Cup, sometimes referred as World Men's Team Championships, is an international badminton competition among teams representing member nations of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the sport's global governing body. Sudirman Cup
The Sudirman Cup is an international badminton mixed team competition contested by member countries of the Badminton World Federation, the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every two years since the inaugural tournament in 1989. It used to be held at the same venue for the World Championships in the same year until the International Badminton Federation, now the BWF, decided to split the two tournaments starting from 2003. There are five matches in every Sudirman Cup tie which consists of men and women's singles, men and women's doubles and mixed doubles. Badminton is a racquet sport played using racket (sports equipment), racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net (device), net. 2020 Badminton Asia Team Championships
The 2020 Badminton Asia Team Championships (also known as the 2020 Smart Badminton Asia Manila Team Championship due to sponsorship reasons) was the third edition of Badminton Asia Team Championships, staged at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila, Philippines, from 11 to 16 February 2020. This championships was organized by the Badminton Asia with Philippine Badminton Association as host organiser and sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation. The 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships (officially known as the SELANGOR Badminton Asia Team Championships 2024 presented by PKNS for sponsorship reasons) was the fifth edition of Badminton Asia Team Championships, held at the Setia City Convention Centre in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, from 13 to 18 February 2024. This championships was organised by the Badminton Asia along with Badminton Association of Malaysia as the host organiser. It was sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation.
