South Bank University Sixth Form
South Bank University Sixth Form is a sixth form centre with academy status located in the Brixton area of the London Borough of Lambeth, England. Established in 2016, the institution was previously known as South Bank Engineering UTC and then South Bank UTC. History South Bank Engineering UTC was established as a University Technical College in September 2016, with a capacity for 600 pupils. The UTC was sponsored by London South Bank University, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Skanska. UTCs are specialist 14-19 state-funded schools led by universities and industry sponsors. In line with other UTCs across the country, South Bank had a specialism aligned to a skills gap in the local economy. Business And Technology Education Council
The Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) is a provider of secondary school leaving qualifications and further education qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. While the 'T' in BTEC stood for Technical, according to the DfE (2016) it now stands for Technology. BTECs originated in 1984 and were awarded by Edexcel from 1996.
