The music of South Africa exhibits a culturally varied musical heritage in conjunction with the multi-ethnic populace. Ray Phiri
Raymond Chikapa Enock Phiri (23 March 1947 – 12 July 2017) was a South African jazz, fusion and mbaqanga musician born in Mpumalanga to Thabethe Phiri, a Malawian immigrant worker, and South African guitarist nicknamed "Just Now" Phiri. He was a founding member of the Cannibals in the 1970s. When the Cannibals disbanded Ray founded Stimela, with whom he conceived gold and platinum-selling albums like ''Fire, Passion and '' (1984), ''Look, Listen and Decide'' (1986). He collaborated with Paul Simon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo on Simon's '' Graceland'' (1986) album. Career Ray Phiri was born near Nelspruit in the then Eastern Transvaal, now Mpumalanga Province, in South Africa. Anatii
Anathi Bhongo Mnyango (born 8 January 1993), known professionally as Anatii, is a South African rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Career Anatii began his professional musical journey at the age of 14 when he received his first major South African placement with L-Tido, for the song "When It Rains". His debut studio album '' Artiifact'' was released on 9 September 2016. Black Coffee (DJ)
Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo (born 11 March 1976), better known by his stage name Black Coffee, is a South African DJ, record producer and songwriter. His accolades include eight South African Music Awards, four DJ Awards, two Metro FM Awards and a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album. He began his career in 1994, and gained recognition for his participation in the 2004 Red Bull Music Academy a decade later. Freshlyground is an Afro-fusion pop band formed in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2002. Freshlyground is best known for writing, performing and playing the instrumentals of the afrofusion and soca single "''Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)''" alongside Colombian singer Shakira, which received worldwide recognition. The music video featuring the group has achieved over 3.9 billion views on YouTube, which has resulted in it becoming one of the most-viewed videos on the platform. GoldFish is an electronic duo originating from Cape Town, South Africa, now residing in San Diego, California consisting of Dominic Peters and David Poole. They create dance music containing elements of house, pop, jazz and African music. Lebohang Morake (born 11 July 1964), known as Lebo M, is a South African producer and composer, known for his songwriting and vocal work on the soundtracks to films such as ''The Lion King, The Power of One'' and ''Outbreak'' and numerous stage productions. He was recommended to Disney by Hans Zimmer, the composer of both adaptations of ''The Lion King'', and formed and conducted the African choir that sang for the films. Yvonne Chaka Chaka OIS (born Yvonne Machaka on 18 March 1965) is a South African singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, humanitarian and teacher. Dubbed the "Princess of Africa" (on a 1990 tour), Chaka Chaka has been at the forefront of South African popular music for 35 years and has been popular in Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Ghana, Gabon, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast. Jeremy Thomas Hewitt (born March 4, 1984) known by his stage name Jeremy Loops, is a South African singer, songwriter, and record producer. In 2011, Loops released his self-titled EP. Die Antwoord (; ) is a South African hip hop duo formed in Cape Town in 2008. The duo consists of rappers Ninja and Yolandi Visser (also spelled Yo-Landi Visser and stylized as ¥o-Landi Vi$$er). Seether
Seether are a South African Rock music, rock band founded in 1999 in Pretoria, Gauteng. The band originally performed under the name Saron Gas until 2002, when they moved to the United States and changed it to Seether to avoid confusion with the deadly chemical known as sarin, sarin gas. Lead vocalist and guitarist Shaun Morgan is the band's longest serving member, bassist Dale Stewart joined shortly after formation while drummer John Humphrey (drummer), John Humphrey joined them for the band's second album. Since 2018, the band has been employing second guitarist Corey Lowery.
