Soulsec
The British band Soulsec (formerly known as The Faithband or the 'Paul Roberts Band') is the solo project of the ex Stranglers frontman Paul Roberts. In 1999 Paul Roberts releases his first solo album ''Faith?'', the birth of the Faithband. They start touring in 2000 and release their second studio album Self Discovery in 2001. In 2002 they ask people to promote several gigs which initiates the Peoples' Acoustic Faith Tour. In autumn 2002 the band goes on the road again for the Set In Stone Tour. The third studio album The Pressure Sensitive is released in 2003. They start touring for the Wrong Connection Tour which has to be cancelled after three gigs. In 2004 the band decides to change their name to the Paul Roberts Band at first and finally to Soulsec. In 2005 they perform several gigs in the UK and in Belgium. Paul Roberts (musician)
Paul Roberts (born 31 December 1959 in Chiswick, London) is an England, English singer who was the lead singer of The Stranglers between 1990 and 2006. Career The Stranglers Roberts replaced Hugh Cornwell in The Stranglers in 1990 and appeared on and co-wrote their studio albums ''Stranglers In the Night'', ''About Time (Stranglers album), About Time'', ''Written in Red'', ''Coup de Grace (The Stranglers album), Coup de Grace'' and ''Norfolk Coast (album), Norfolk Coast''. Roberts performed live as a non-playing frontman as The Stranglers recruited guitarist John Ellis (guitarist), John Ellis and later Baz Warne to co-replace Cornwell, who sang vocals and played guitar. Roberts left The Stranglers after almost 16 years (believed to be longer than his predecessor, according to press quotes from his former colleagues) in May 2006. Richard Naiff
Richard Naiff is a British pianist and flautist from London who has performed with the bands Soulsec, The Catacoustics, The Waterboys and The Icicle Works. Naiff is a classically trained musician, having joined the Guildhall School of Music at age ten. The Irish music website Cluas.com describes Naiff as "phenomenally talented". Naiff was invited to participate on The Waterboys' album '' A Rock in the Weary Land'' after the group's leader Mike Scott heard his piano work in a studio next to one where the recording sessions for ''A Rock in the Weary Land'' were taking place. Naiff joined the band officially in June 2000. Along with Mike Scott and Steve Wickham, Naiff makes up the core of the post-2000 Waterboys band. Former Waterboy Ian McNabb described Naiff as Scott's "find of the century". Not coincidentally, while keeping his membership in the Waterboys, Naiff also joined McNabb's touring band in 2004, and became a member of a revived version of McNabb's old band The Ici ... Stranglers
The Stranglers are an English rock band who emerged via the punk rock scene. Scoring 23 UK top 40 singles and 19 UK top 40 albums to date in a career spanning five decades, the Stranglers are one of the longest-surviving bands to have originated in the UK punk scene. Formed as the Guildford Stranglers in Guildford, Surrey, in early 1974, they originally built a following within the mid-1970s pub rock scene. While their aggressive, no-compromise attitude had them identified by the media with the emerging UK punk rock scene that followed, their idiosyncratic approach rarely followed any single musical genre, and the group went on to explore a variety of musical styles, from new wave, art rock and gothic rock through the sophisti-pop of some of their 1980s output.
