Sotalia Fluviatilis
The tucuxi (''Sotalia fluviatilis''), alternatively known in Peru ''bufeo gris'' or ''bufeo negro'', is a species of freshwater dolphin found in the rivers of the Amazon basin. The word ''tucuxi'' is derived from the Tupi language word ''tuchuchi-ana'', and has now been adopted as the species' common name. Despite being found in geographic locations similar to those of 'true' river dolphins such as the Amazon river dolphin, boto, the tucuxi is not closely related to them genetically. Instead, it is classed in the oceanic dolphin family (Delphinidae). Physically, the species resembles the bottlenose dolphins, but differs sufficiently to be placed in a separate genus, ''Sotalia''. The Guiana dolphin (''Sotalia guianensis''), a related dolphin present in coastal and estuarine environments and formerly grouped together with the tucuxi, have recently been recognized as a distinct species. Paul Gervais
Paul Gervais (full name: François Louis Paul Gervais) (26 September 1816 – 10 February 1879) was a French palaeontologist and entomologist. Biography Gervais was born in Paris, where he obtained the diplomas of doctor of science and of medicine, and in 1835 he began palaeontological research as assistant in the laboratory of comparative anatomy at the ''Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle''. Japurá River
The Japurá River or Caquetá River is a long river in the Amazon basin. It rises in Colombia and flows eastward through Brazil to join the Amazon River. Course The river rises as the Caquetá River in the Andes in southwest Colombia. The Caquetá River rises near the sources of the Magdalena River, and augments its volume from many branches as it courses through Colombia. Asthma
Asthma is a common long-term inflammatory disease of the airways of the lungs.
