Sorhakhutte
Sorhakhutte (Nepali: सोह्रखुट्टे) is a settlement at the old part of Kathmandu city lying at an intersection of Thamel, Swayambhunath and Balaju Balaju ( fa, بالاجو, also Romanized as Bālājū; also known as Bālājūn) is a village in Doruneh Rural District, Anabad District, Bardaskan County, Razavi Khorasan Province, Iran Iran, officially the Islamic Republic of .... The intersection houses an ancient inn named Sorakhutte Paati (सोर्हखुट्टे पाटी) which was built by children of Kaji Damodar Pande about 200 years ago. It was damaged due to road expansion in 2015, and is under repair. The intersection is named after this inn based on its 16 wooden pillars. Nepali Language
Nepali (; , ) is an Indo-Aryan language native to the Himalayas region of South Asia. It is the official, and most widely spoken, language of Nepal, where it also serves as a '' lingua franca''. Thamel
Thamel ( ne, ठमेल) is a commercial neighborhood located in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Thamel has been the centre of the tourist industry in Kathmandu for over four decades, starting from the hippie days, when many artists came to Nepal and spent weeks in Thamel. It is considered as the hotspot for tourism inside the Kathmandu valley. Thamel is known by its narrow alleys crowded with various shops and vendors. Commonly sold goods include food, fresh vegetables/fruits, pastries, trekking gear, walking gear, music, DVDs, handicrafts, souvenirs, woolen items and clothes. Travel agencies, small grocery stores, budget hotels, restaurants, pubs and clubs also line the streets. Swayambhunath
Swayambhu (Devanagari: स्वयम्भू स्तूप; new, स्वयंभू; sometimes Swayambu or Swoyambhu) is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu city. The Tibetan name for the site means 'Sublime Trees' ( Wylie: ''Phags.pa Shing.kun''), for the many varieties of trees found on the hill. However, ''Shingkun'' may be of the local in Tamang Bhasa name for the complex, Swayambhu, meaning 'self-sprung'. For the Buddhist Newars, in whose mythological history and origin myth as well as day-to-day religious practice Swayambhunath occupies a central position, it is probably the most sacred among Buddhist pilgrimage sites. For Tibetans and followers of Tibetan Buddhism, it is second only to Boudha. Swayambhunath is the Hindu name. Damodar Pande
Damodar Pande ( ne, दामोदर पाँडे) (1752 – March 13, 1804) was the Mulkaji of Nepal (equivalent to Prime Minister of Nepal) from 1803 to 1804 and most influential Kaji since 1794 to his death on March 13, 1804. He is also arguably referred to as the first Prime Minister of Nepal. He was the youngest son of famous Kaji of Prithivi Narayan Shah Kalu Pande. He was born in 1752 in Gorkha. Damodar Pande was one of the commanders during the Sino-Nepalese War and in Nepal-Tibet War. And he was among successful Gorkhali warriors sent towards the east by Prithivinarayan Shah. After his execution, Ranajit Pande (who was his paternal cousin) was established as Mulkaji (Chief '' Kaji''), along with Bhimsen Thapa as second '' Kaji'', Sher Bahadur Shah as Mul Chautariya and Ranganath Paudel as Raj Guru (Royal Preceptor).
