Sordid Fiction
''Sordid Fiction'' is an album by Canadian band The Lowest of the Low. For this record, and all future releases the band switched to Lowest of the Low, dropping "The" from their name. Apart from three studio songs on the band's 2002 live album '' Nothing Short of a Bullet'', it was the band's first album of new material since 1994's ''Hallucigenia''. This is the first Lowest of the Low recording not to feature original bassist John Arnott who left the band in 2002. The re-jigged lineup featured Dylan Parker replacing Arnott on bass and long time collaborator Lawrence Nichols (harmonica, keyboards and vocals) joining the band as a full-fledged member. The album was produced by Ian Blurton, and released on MapleMusic Recordings. Ian Blurton (born 1965) is a Canadian musician and record producer. Early life He was born in Champaign, Illinois in 1965, and moved to Toronto in 1973. Musical career He has been a part of Toronto's indie music scene since the early 1980s. He was playing drums in the original line-ups for Cowboy Junkies and A Neon Rome before he became the lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for Change of Heart.Michael Barclay, Ian A.D. Nothing Short Of A Bullet
''Nothing Short of a Bullet'' is a 2002 live album by The Lowest of the Low. The album documents the band's 2000 reunion tour. The title comes from a line in the band's song "For the Hand of Magdalena", ''Nothing short of a bullet could have broken your will''. It was released on MapleMusic Recordings. The album would be the last to include bassist John Arnott, as the rest of the band had asked him to leave. The tracks on the album are taken from performances in Toronto and Buffalo. Twelve of the songs were recorded over multiple gigs at the Tralf, in Buffalo on November 14, 15 and 16 of 2000 while the remaining five songs were recorded in Toronto at Lee's Palace, on November 9 and at The Warehouse on November 17 and 18 of that same year. One of the songs performed in concert, "The Unbearable Lightness of Jean", did not appear on either of the band's previously released studio albums, although a live version of it did appear on their ''Motel 30'' single from ''Hallucigenia''. Do The Right Now
''Do The Right Now'' is the fourth studio album by Canadian rock band, The Lowest of the Low. Album Concept Discussions for this album were incepted in 2011, but these plans were scrapped in 2013 when original guitarist ( Stephen Stanley) announced he was leaving the band. Lead singer Ron Hawkins said, shortly after his departure, that the future of the band was very much in doubt. "The Low is in a 'dust settling' phase right now. Stephen leaving was a surprise and no one in the band is quite certain as to why he left. We're not clear as to whether or not a Lowest of the Low with a new guitarist makes sense." In 2015, the plans became clearer as Brian MacMillan took over lead guitar duties and two new singles 'The Kids Are All Wrong' and 'In The Blink Of An Eye' were released. ''Hallucigenia'' is an album by Canadian band The Lowest of the Low, released in 1994. It was the band's first release distributed by a major record label until 2018, when the band signed with Warner Music Canada. The album reveals the source of the band's name, opening with a clip of former President of the United States George H. W. Bush stating ''"We do not want to be the lowest of the low. We are not a nation in decline."'' The album was recorded in 1993 with producer Don Smith, but its release was delayed several months as the band sorted out the details of their contract with A&M Records. Smith brought an impressive pedigree to the project having produced records for Keith Richards, The Tragically Hip and 54-40 but the band and Smith never gelled with lead singer Ron Hawkins having serious issues with him.
