Ladin ( , ; autonym: ; ; ) is a Romance languages, Romance language of the Rhaeto-Romance languages, Rhaeto-Romance subgroup, mainly spoken in the Dolomites, Dolomite Mountains in Northern Italy in the provinces of South Tyrol, Trentino, and Province of Belluno, Belluno, by the Ladin people. It exhibits similarities to Romansh language, Romansh, which is spoken in Switzerland, as well as to Friulian language, Friulian, which is spoken in northeast Italy. The precise extent of the Ladin language area is a subject of scholarly debate. Falcade ( Ladin: ''Falciade'', German: ''Pfalden'') is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Belluno in the Italian region Veneto, located about northwest of Venice and about northwest of Belluno. Falcade borders the following municipalities: Canale d'Agordo, Moena, Rocca Pietore, Soraga, Tonadico. Falcade is on the edge of the Trevalli Ski Area: of slopes stretching between Veneto and Trentino regions which in turn is part of the Dolomite Super Ski area. Moena ( Ladin: ''Moéna'') is a ''comune'' (municipality) and a village in Trentino in the northern Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about northeast of Trento. It is the largest comune in the Fassa Valley. In the census of 2001, 1,967 inhabitants out of 2,602 (75.6%) declared Ladin as their native language. Geography Moena lies on the Avisio, a tributary of the Adige river. The municipality borders with Falcade, Nova Levante, Sèn Jan di Fassa, Predazzo, Soraga and Tonadico. It counts the hamlets (''frazioni'') of Forno, Medil, San Pellegrino, Penia, Someda and Sorte.
