Sopotocientos
''Sopotocientos'' was a Venezuelan children's television program broadcast in the early 1970s. Program Sopotocientos produced and broadcast in the early seventies by Televisora Nacional, channel 5. The series was similar in style to Sesame Street, starring children and characters representing animals. The series was a great success during its broadcast, and later an album with its featured songs was released. Despite being broadcast on channel 5, Sopotocientos was a community program, which meant that other Venezuelan television channels collaborated in the production. The series was promoted by First Lady Alicia Pietri de Caldera, and was both advised and directed by psychologist Alba Revenga, who was later in charge of the contents of the Children's Museum of Caracas. According to Alicia Pietri, the series reached an audience of over a million children viewers and was awarded the Meridiano de Oro and Guacaipuro de Oro awards. Alicia Pietri Montemayor (14 October 1923 – 9 February 2011) was a public figure in Venezuela who twice served as First Lady of Venezuela (1969–1974 and 1994–1999) as the wife of Venezuelan president Rafael Caldera. She was the founder of the Children's Museum of Caracas. She served as president of the Children’s Foundation in Venezuela, and was also involved in other organizations dedicated to childcare. América Alonso
María Golajovski Zaira (4 December 1936 – 14 May 2022), better known as América Alonso, was a Venezuelan actress. She had an artistic career of more than four decades, acting in telenovelas, theater and films. Career She was the only child of immigrants of the Russian Revolution, an opera singer and an industrial engineer. During World War II and the Nazi invasion of the country, she and her family were interned in a concentration camp. Her father died before she was seven years old. In 1948 she emigrated to Venezuela, where she attended elementary school at the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe School in Sabana Grande, Caracas. Televisora Nacional was the first television station (Government-owned corporation, state-owned) to begin operations in Venezuela. ''Plaza Sésamo'' () is the first Sesame Street international co-productions, international co-production of the Educational television, educational Children's television series, children's television series ''Sesame Street''.
