Sophie Schulz (; 23 May 1905 – 24 April 1975) was an Austrian politician who served in the Landtag of Lower Austria from 1959 until 1965 as a member of the Austrian People's Party. During her tenure, she introduced revised regulations for the state's spas and health resorts. Biography Sophie Schulz () was born on 23 May 1905. A resident of Baden bei Wien, she was a member of the Christian Social Party during the Interwar period. After the war, she joined the Austrian People's Party. Schulz was elected a in 1950, and served as a member of the Baden city council from 1955 until 1965. Prior to entering politics, she was a housewife. On 5 November 1959, Schulz became a member of the Landtag of Lower Austria, succeeding . The Landtag of Lower Austria is the state parliament of the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It exercises the state legislation (legislature). The seat of the Landtag is in St. Pölten in the Landhausviertel. The Lower Austrian Parliament is composed of 56 members of parliament. The term of office is five years. Elections are held in accordance with the Lower Austrian Landtag election regulations of 1992. 21 constituencies in Lower Austria correspond to the political districts. A spa town is a resort town based on a mineral spa (a developed mineral spring). Patrons visit spas to "take the waters" for their purported health benefits. Thomas Guidott set up a medical practice in the English town of Bath, Somerset, Bath in 1668. He became interested in the curative properties of the hot mineral waters there and in 1676 wrote ''A discourse of Bathe, and the hot waters there. Also, Some Enquiries into the Nature of the water''. This brought the purported health-giving properties of the waters to the attention of the aristocracy, who started to partake in them soon after.
