Sophie Brody
Sophie M. Brody (11 December 1922 – 24 August 2004) was an American philanthropist and community volunteer. She was married to Arthur Brody, the founder of Brodart, a library supply company. Brody was a member of the Executive Board and Board of the Women's Division of United Jewish Federation. Brody and her husband Arthur founded the Sophie Brody Leadership Development Fund to fund training of future Jewish leaders by the United Jewish Federation. The American Library Association's Sophie Brody Award is named after her. A woman is an adult female human. Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent). The plural ''women'' is sometimes used in certain phrases such as "women's rights" to denote female humans regardless of age. The American Library Association (ALA) is a nonprofit organization based in the United States that promotes libraries and library education internationally. It is the oldest and largest library association in the world, with 49,727 members as of 2021.
