Sop Moei District
Sop Moei (, ) is the southernmost district (''amphoe'') of Mae Hong Son province, northern Thailand. History ''Tambons'' Sop Moei, Mae Khatuan, and Kong Koi were separated from Mae Sariang district to create Sop Moei minor district (''king amphoe'') on 1 April 1984. It was upgraded to a full district on 3 November 1993. ''Sop Moei'' means 'confluence with Moei', as this is the point where the Salween River meets the Moei Rivers. Geography Neighbouring districts are (from south clockwise): Tha Song Yang district, Tha Song Yang of Tak province, Kayin State of Myanmar, Mae Sariang district, Mae Sariang of Mae Hong Son Province, Hot district, Hot and Omkoi district, Omkoi of Chiang Mai province. Bhumibol Dam
The Bhumibol Dam (''formerly known as the'' Yanhi Dam) is a concrete arch dam on the Ping River, a tributary of the Chao Phraya River, in Sam Ngao District of Tak Province, Thailand. It is about north of Bangkok and was built for the purposes of water storage, hydroelectric power production, flood control, fisheries and saltwater intrusion management. The dam was named after King Bhumibol Adulyadej and it was Thailand's first multi-purpose project. It is the highest dam in Thailand at tall. Background The dam was originally called Yanhee Dam in 1951 when the government of prime minister Field Marshal Plaek Pibulsongkram initiated the project. It was renamed Bhumibol Dam in 1957. Central Thailand
Central Thailand (Central Plain) (historically also known as Siam or Dvaravati) is one of the regions of Thailand, covering the broad alluvial plain of the Chao Phraya River. Mae Ngao National Park
Mae (stylized mae) is an American rock band that formed in Norfolk, Virginia in 2001. The band's name is an acronym for "Multisensory Aesthetic Experience", based on a course taken by drummer Jacob Marshall while a student at Old Dominion University. Yuam River
The Yuam River (; ) is a river in northwestern Thailand, part of the Salween watershed. It originates in the mountains of the Thanon Thong Chai Range, Khun Yuam District, Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand. The river flows in a north–south direction and then in Sop Moei District it bends westwards and then northwestwards, forming a stretch of the Thai/ Burmese border shortly before it joins the left bank of the Moei River, shortly before its confluence with the Salween. Omkoi (, ) is the southwesternmost district (''amphoe'') of Chiang Mai province in northern Thailand.
