Sooke () is a district municipality on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, Canada, by road from Victoria, the capital of British Columbia. Sooke, the westernmost of Greater Victoria's Western Communities, is to the north and west of the Sooke Basin. It is a regional centre for residents in neighbouring communities, including Otter Point, Shirley and Jordan River. Geography Climate Sooke has a Mediterranean climate, with warm summers and mild winters, defined by the Köppen climate classification as ''Csb''. Although its precipitation is more like dry summer climates, its temperatures resemble oceanic climates as found in Ireland, for example. The Köppen climate classification divides Earth climates into five main climate groups, with each group being divided based on patterns of seasonal precipitation and temperature. Jordan River, British Columbia
Jordan River, founded as, and still officially gazetted as, River Jordan, is a small settlement on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, approximately west of Victoria at the mouth of the Jordan River. Established as a logging camp in the late 19th century, Jordan River has Vancouver Island's second hydroelectric power plant. It is popular amongst winter surfers. Shirley is an unincorporated locality on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia. It's local government is the ''Juan de Fuca Electoral Area'', which is part of the Capital Regional District. Geography Shirley is located 57 kilometres west of Victoria, on Highway 14 between Sooke and Port Renfrew. Otter Point, Greater Victoria
Otter Point is a rural forestry district between other rural district of Shirley and town of Sooke. It references the immediate area around Otter Point Road, a crescent-shaped thoroughfare beginning and terminating on West Coast Road as well as the area towards Shirley boundary too. The rural district itself is generally considered to begin past the extensive residential subdivisions of Broom Hill, past Helgesen Road. Sooke Basin
Sooke Basin is a small (10 km2) body of water on the southern end of Vancouver Island in southwestern British Columbia. It is connected to the Strait of Juan de Fuca by Sooke Harbour, a 4 km long narrow natural harbour. Geography Sooke Basin is a salt water body located between Sooke and East Sooke. The shores of Sooke Basin are mostly rock, but along the north shore there are beautiful sandy beaches. Scattered around the remainder are occasional muddy and pebbly beaches.
