BSI-CMOS
Comparison of simplified back-illuminated and front-illuminated pixel cross-sections A back-illuminated (BI) sensor, also known as back-side illumination (BSI) sensor, is a type of digital image sensor that uses a novel arrangement of the imaging elements to increase the amount of light captured and thereby improve low-light performance. The technique was used for some time in specialized roles like low-light security cameras and astronomy sensors, but was complex to build and required further refinement to become widely used. Sony was the first to reduce these problems and their costs sufficiently to introduce a 5-megapixel 1.75 μm BI CMOS sensor at general consumer prices in 2009.''Sony'', 2009 BI sensors from OmniVision Technologies have since been used in consumer electronics from other manufacturers as in the HTC EVO 4G Android smartphone, and as a major selling point for the camera in Apple's iPhone 4.''Apple'', 2010 Description A traditional, front-illuminated dig ...

CFexpress
CFexpress is a standard for removable media memory card, cards by the CompactFlash Association (CFA). The standard uses the NVM Express protocol over a PCI Express, PCIe interface. 3 different form factors are available, with 1 to 4 PCI-E lanes available. History On 7 September 2016, the CompactFlash Association announced the CFexpress standard, with specifications based on the PCI Express interface and NVM Express protocol. On 18 April 2017 the CompactFlash Association published the CFexpress 1.0 specification. Version 1.0 will use the XQD card, XQD form-factor (38.5 mm × 29.8 mm × 3.8 mm) with two PCIe 3.0 lanes for speeds up to 2 GB/s. NVMe 1.2 is used for low-latency access, low overhead and highly parallel access. On 13 June 2017, Delkin introduced the first CFexpress cards based on the CFexpress 1.0 specification. The CFexpress 2.0 standard was announced on 28 February 2019. It features two new card formats - a more compact Type A with one lan ...

Sony E-mount
The E-mount is a lens mount designed by Sony for their NEX ("New E-mount eXperience") and Sony ILCE camera, ILCE series of camcorders and mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, mirrorless cameras. The E-mount supplements Sony's Sony α, α mount, allowing the company to develop more compact imaging devices while maintaining vignetting with 35mm sensors. E-mount achieves this by: * Minimising mechanical complexity, removing mechanical aperture and Focus (optics), focus drive. * Shortening the flange focal distance to 18 mm compared with earlier offerings from Sony which used 44.5 mm. * Reducing the radius of the flange. * Relying on software to correct vignetting The short flange focal distance prohibits the use of an optical viewfinder, as a mirror box mechanism cannot be included in this reduced distance. Therefore, all E-mount cameras use an electronic viewfinder. History Initially, E-mount was implemented on the Sony α Sony NEX-3, NEX-3 and Sony NEX-5, NEX-5 consume ...

Bulb (photography)
The Bulb setting (abbreviated B) on camera shutters is a momentary-action mode that holds shutters open for as long as a photographer depresses the shutter-release button. The Bulb setting is distinct from shutter's Time (T) setting, which is an alternate-action mode where the shutter opens when the shutter-release button is pressed and released once, and closes when the button is actuated again. History Decades before the first flashbulbs, some box cameras and many view cameras and folding cameras came with a detachable pneumatic shutter release with a rubber bulb on the end; "Bulb" refers to the rubber shutter release bulb. Though mechanically timed exposures could also be triggered by squeezing the shutter release bulb, "Bulb" exposures then had the same momentary action as camera shutters have today, as per this description from Sears Roebuck's 1909 ''Cameras Photographic Supplies'': Around 1894 in Germany, the momentary-action setting on camera shutters made by C. A ...

Full-frame Mirrorless Interchangeable-lens Camera
A mirrorless camera (sometimes referred to as a mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera (MILC) or digital single-lens mirrorless (DSLM)) is a digital camera which, in contrast to DSLRs, does not use a mirror in order to ensure that the image presented to the photographer through the viewfinder is identical to that taken by the camera. They have come to replace DSLRs, which have historically dominated interchangeable lens cameras. Other terms include electronic viewfinder interchangeable lens (EVIL) and compact system camera (CSC). When compared to similar DSLRs, these cameras can be smaller, lighter, and quieter. In cameras with mirrors, light from the lens is directed to either the image sensor or the viewfinder. This is done using a mechanical movable mirror which sits behind the lens. By contrast, in a mirrorless camera, the lens always shines light onto the image sensor, and what the camera sees is displayed on a screen for the photographer. Some mirrorless cameras also s ...
