Sonja Lapajne-Oblak
Sonja Lapajne Oblak (July 15, 1906 – September 29, 1993) was a Slovenes, Slovenian architect. She was the first Slovenian woman to graduate as a civil engineer from the Faculty of Technology in Ljubljana and Slovenia's first female urban planner. She was a member of the Yugoslav Partisans, Partisans during the Second World War, and she survived incarceration in the Ravensbruck concentration camp before playing a part in rebuilding Yugoslavia in the postwar period. Early life and education Sonja Lapajne was born in Šentvid (Ljubljana), Šentvid pri Ljubljani in 1906 and baptized Zofija-Sonja. Her parents were Antonija and Živko Lapajne, her father was a prominent medical doctor specialising in the treatment of tuberculosis and public health work, including running a hygiene institute with an interest in eugenics after the First World War. The Liberation Front of the Slovene Nation (), or simply Liberation Front (''Osvobodilna fronta'', OF), originally called the Anti-Imperialist Front (''Protiimperialistična fronta'', PIF), was a Slovene anti-fascist political party. The Anti-Imperialist Front had ideological ties to the Soviet Union (which was at the time in a non-aggression pact with Nazi Germany) in its fight against the imperialistic tendencies of the United States and the United Kingdom (the western powers), and it was led by the Communist Party of Slovenia. In May 1941, weeks into the German occupation of Yugoslavia, in the first wartime issue of the illegal newspaper ''Slovenski poročevalec'' (Slovenian Reporter), members of the organization criticized the German regime and described Germans as imperialists. The Order of Labour ( / , , ) was a Yugoslav civil decoration awarded to both civilians and military personnel for outstanding work performance. It was established in May 1945, and had three classes. In 1961, the classes were renamed: Order of Labour with Red Banner (formerly 1st class), Order of Labour with Golden Wreath (formerly 2nd class) and Order of Labour with Silver Wreath (formerly 3rd class). In 1998, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia adopted a new Law on Decorations that kept most of the decorations of the Socialist Yugoslavia, with some additions. The Order of Labour was retained, but now had only a single class. Orders, decorations, and medals of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia were created during the Second World War and used throughout the existence of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (called Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia until 1963). The first decorations were created by AVNOJ on August 15, 1943 and included the Order of the People's Hero, Order of the People's Liberation, Order of the Partisan Star, Order of the Brotherhood and Unity, Order for Bravery and Medal for Bravery. By 1960 the total number of decorations increased to 42 and consisted of 35 orders, 6 medals and 1 commemorative medal. The designers of the Yugoslav orders and medals were Antun Augustinčić and Đorđe Andrejević Kun.
