Sonic Protest
Sonic Protest is a yearly music festival in France focused on left field music genres like experimental rock, electroacoustic music, improvised music, noise and avant garde music. The first edition of Sonic Protest took place in 2003. The editions from 2003 till 2011 took place in Paris. Acts like Deerhoof, Shit & Shine, Noël Akchoté, Charles Hayward, Keiji Haino and many others have performed at this festival. At the 2006 and 2008 editions compilation cds with all the artists featured on the festival were released The 2012 edition was set up bigger than the predecessing editions and took place in five cities: Paris, Reims, Marseille, Dijon and Tours. Noxagt
Noxagt is a Norwegian noise rock band. It started as a Kjetil Brandsdal solo project in 1999, but was expanded to a power trio in 2002, with Brandsdal on bass, Nils Erga on viola and Jan Christian L. Kyvik on drums. Erga was replaced by Anders Hana on electric guitar in 2005. Noxagt have a unique sound, which possibly stems from its members' involvement in diverse musical projects. Hana also plays with MoHa, Ultralyd and the Ingebrigt Flaten Quintet. Brandsdal also plays bass in Ultralyd and Hellfire. Kyvik plays guitar in Hellfire. Los Lichis is a Mexican free-rock group founded in 1996 and based in Monterrey and Mexico City. The band first worked as a multimedia concept art collective but later moved to musical improvisations with a Lo-fi sound. In 2000, French composer Jean Baptiste Favory joined the group. A sunroof is a movable panel that opens to uncover a window in an automobile roof, allowing light and fresh air to enter the passenger compartment. Hawk And Hacksaw
A Hawk and a Hacksaw is an American folk duo from Albuquerque, New Mexico, currently signed to L.M. Duplication. The band consists of accordionist Jeremy Barnes, who was previously the drummer for Neutral Milk Hotel and Bablicon, and violinist Heather Trost. The music is inspired by Eastern European, Turkish and Balkan traditions, and is mostly instrumental. They have released six albums and have toured internationally. The first four albums and an EP were released on The Leaf Label and afterwards on their own label L. M. Duplication. Career While Barnes lived in Chicago, he found himself in a Ukrainian area with many people from Eastern Europe and began to develop an interest in Romanian folk music.
