Sonic Generations
''Sonic Generations'' is a 2011 platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows, and Nintendo 3DS. Produced in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the ''Sonic the Hedgehog'' series, the game follows Sonic and his sidekick Tails as they form an alliance with their past selves and travel through levels from previous ''Sonic'' games. It features two gameplay styles: "Classic", which plays from a side-scrolling perspective like that of the original Sega Genesis ''Sonic'' games, and "Modern", 3D levels similar to those in '' Sonic Unleashed'' (2008) and '' Sonic Colors'' (2010). Development of ''Sonic Generations'' began following the completion of ''Unleashed''. Sonic Team sought to re-imagine the most popular aspects of the franchise in high-definition, and developed the game using the Hedgehog Engine. Sonic The Hedgehog (character)
is a Character (arts), character created by the Japanese game designers Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima. He is the star of the ''Sonic the Hedgehog'' franchise and the mascot of the Japanese video game company Sega. Sonic is an anthropomorphism, anthropomorphic blue hedgehog who can run at supersonic speed. He races through Level (video games), levels, collecting Rings (Sonic the Hedgehog), rings and avoiding obstacles, as he seeks to defeat his archenemy, Doctor Eggman. He is accompanied by Characters of Sonic the Hedgehog, supporting characters, such as his best friend and sidekick Miles "Tails" Prower, romantic interest Amy Rose, and friendly rival Knuckles the Echidna. The PlayStation 5 (PS5) is a home video game console developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was announced as the successor to the PlayStation 4 in April 2019, was launched on November 12, 2020, in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, North America, and South Korea, and was released worldwide a week later. The PS5 is part of the ninth generation of video game consoles, along with Microsoft Gaming, Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox Series X/S consoles, which were released in the same month. The base model includes an optical disc drive compatible with Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. The Digital Edition lacks this drive, as a lower-cost model for buying games only through digital distribution of video games, download. The two variants were launched simultaneously. High-definition video (HD video) is video of higher resolution and quality than standard-definition. Sonic Colors
(known as ''Sonic Colours'' in PAL regions) is a 2010 platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. It follows Sonic the Hedgehog (character), Sonic's quest to stop his nemesis Doctor Eggman from enslaving an alien race and taking over the world. The gameplay is similar to prior ''Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic'' games, with players collecting Rings (Sonic the Hedgehog), rings and defeating enemies; the camera perspective often switches from Third-person view, third-person to Side-scrolling video game, side-scrolling perspectives. The game also introduces Wisp (Sonic), Wisps, power-ups the player can use to increase attack power and reach new areas.
