Kiss (band)
Kiss (commonly styled as KISS) was an American rock music, rock band formed in New York City in 1973 by Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals, bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals) and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). Known for their face paint and stage outfits, the group rose to prominence in the mid-1970s with shock rock–style live performances which featured fire-breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits and pyrotechnics. The band went through several lineup changes, with Stanley and Simmons remaining the only consistent members. The final lineup consisted of them, Tommy Thayer (lead guitar, vocals) and Eric Singer (drums, vocals). Thomas Cunningham Thayer (born November 7, 1960) is an American musician. Thayer was the lead guitarist and vocalist for the hard rock band Kiss from 2002 to 2023. He was also the lead guitarist for the band Black 'n Blue. Early life Thomas Cunningham Thayer was born on November 7, 1960, in Portland, Oregon, and grew up in the nearby suburb of Beaverton, Oregon. His mother Patricia Thayer (née Cunningham) was a classically trained violinist and singer, and his father, James Thayer (1922–2018), was a businessman, community leader and retired US Army Brigadier General. Early on, Thayer was raised with three brothers and a sister in a musical family, exposed to genres that ranged from classical to the Beatles and other classic 1960s pop music. "You Wanted the Best" is a song by the American hard rock band Kiss, released on their eighteenth studio album '' Psycho Circus'' in 1998. The song was written by the band's bassist Gene Simmons, and was released as the fourth single off the album on November 23, 1998. The song only charted on Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks, reaching number 22. It was the final recording to feature the original lineup and the only one to feature lead vocals from all four of them. Background Gene Simmons, the sole writer of the song, said about the lyrics: "The lyrics talk about a time when everyone in the band was bitching at each other in the press. Kiss Alive/35 World Tour
The Alive 35 World Tour was a 2008–2009 concert tour by Kiss to celebrate their 35th anniversary. It was the band's first major tour since the Rock the Nation World Tour in 2004. On the tour, Kiss played in Europe for the first time since the Psycho Circus World Tour in 1999. Kiss wore ''Destroyer''-themed costumes for the tour, but the majority of the songs played were on '' Alive!''. The tour was highly successful and proved to be Kiss's biggest tour of Europe. This tour marked the first time Kiss visited Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Russia, Luxembourg, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela. Three legs and 38 shows were announced. ''Rock and Roll Over'' is the fifth studio album by American rock band Kiss, released on November 11, 1976, by Casablanca Records. It was recorded at the Star Theatre in Nanuet, New York. The album contains the songs " Hard Luck Woman" and " Calling Dr. Love", which became hit singles in the United States. Album information To get the proper drum sound, Peter Criss recorded his tracks in a bathroom, communicating via video-link with the rest of the band. He has created logos, album covers, magazine covers, and art for various brands in media, advertising, and sports, including ''Wreck-It Ralph'', the New York Knicks, MLB, ''TIME'', ''Playboy'', ''Wired'', ''TV Guide'', Kiss, Capitol Records, Columbia Records, Walt Disney Imagineering, and Universal Studios.
