Sonemus Fest
Sonemus Fest is an international multi-day contemporary classical music festival which annually takes place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was established in 2001 by The Society Of New Music Sarajevo (SONEMUS) in cooperation with the Sarajevo Music Academy and the Pro Helvetia Foundation. Its focus is on the promotion of classical composers from the countries of Southeast Europe who belong to the contemporary art music aesthetic. The festival has hosted numerous international composers such as Jürg Wyttenbach, Urška Pompe, Uroš Rojko, Marko Nikodijević, Richard Barrett, Antoine Fachard, Simon Steen-Andersen, Hanan Hadžajlić, Ališer Sijarić, Dino Residbegovic, and others. Sarajevo ( ; cyrl, Сарајево, ; ''see names in other languages'') is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a population of 275,524 in its administrative limits. Hanan Hadžajlić
Hanan Hadžajlić (born 16 August 1991) is a Bosnian composer, flutist, and researcher. She co-founded the INSAM Institute for Contemporary Artistic Music and serves as its director. Since 2018, Hadžajlić has worked as a teaching assistant in the Composition Department of the Sarajevo Music Academy, part of the University of Sarajevo. Career Hadžajlić is holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in flute performance, a Master's Degree in composition, and a Master's Degree in flute performance. She is a PhD student of Transdisciplinary Studies of Contemporary Art and Media. Her research fields include composition, contemporary improvisation and electroacoustic music performance, transhumanist music, artificial musical intelligence (AMI), transculturality, nomadism and globalization. Contemporary Classical Music Festivals
Contemporary history, in English-language historiography, is a subset of modern history that describes the historical period from approximately 1945 to the present. Ars Aevi
Ars Aevi is a museum of contemporary art in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was established during the siege of Sarajevo as a cultural resistance movement to the Bosnian war. It holds a collection of 1,600 pieces, including approximately 130 works by renowned world artists such as Pablo Picasso, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Jannis Kounellis, Joseph Beuys, Marina Abramović and Joseph Kosuth. Simon Steen-Andersen
Simon Steen-Andersen (born 1976) is a Danish composer, performer, director and media artist. Biography He studied composition with Karl Aage Rasmussen, Mathias Spahlinger, Gabriel Valverde, and Bent Sørensen in Aarhus, Freiburg, Buenos Aires and Copenhagen from 1998 to 2006. Since 2008 he has taught composition at The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus. Since 2018 he has held the position as professor in the Composition and Music Theatre department at Bern University of the Arts. In 2016 he became a member of the German Academy of the Arts, and in 2018 he was appointed as a member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Music. He currently lives in Berlin. Richard Barrett (composer)
Richard Barrett (born 7 November 1959) is a Welsh composer. Biography Barrett was born in Swansea, Wales and attended Olchfa School. He began to study music seriously only after graduating in genetics and microbiology from University College London in 1980. From then until 1983 he took private lessons with Peter Wiegold. There followed fruitful encounters at the 1984 Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik with Brian Ferneyhough and Hans-Joachim Hespos. In the 1980s he became associated with the so-called New Complexity group of British composers because of the intricate notation of his scores. He is equally active in free improvisation, most often in the electronic duo FURT with Paul Obermayer, formed in 1986, but also since 2003 as a member of the Evan Parker Electro-Acoustic Ensemble.
