"Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" is a song by the English rock band the Smiths. Recorded in autumn 1985, it was first released on their third studio album ''The Queen Is Dead'' in June 1986. It was also released as a single in Germany. Background As with every original recording by the Smiths, the music of "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" was composed by Johnny Marr and the lyrics were written by Morrissey. The recording was given a distinctive intro by engineer Stephen Street, who increased the reverb on the drums, faded the track in then out again, and took the reverb back off when reintroducing the song: "A bit like opening a door, closing it, then opening it again and walking in". The lyric paraphrases Hank Locklin's 1949 country hit " Send Me the Pillow You Dream On". The phrase "the Dole Age" refers to Unemployment Benefit, nicknamed the "dole"; in the year of the song's release, 1986, 3 million people in the United Kingdom were unemployed. Simon Goddard (born Cardiff, 21 December 1971) is a British author and music journalist. Early life Goddard was born in Wales and later moved to Scotland. Though a writer by profession, Goddard originally went to art school in Carlisle, then Hull, and briefly considered a career in visual media. Karol Mikloš (born 1972) is a Slovak recording artist. A former member of a gothic rock band known as Shellwoy (1992–1993), recorded his own self-titled demo EP in 1994. His full-length debut, '' The Same Mist Here'' (1997), saw its official results on Róbert Gregor's Agency – G.A. Records. The guitar-based work made under production by Ladislav Lučenič, spawned a Grammy Slovakia Award-nomination as the New Artist. Its electronic follow-up issued on Millennium Records, ''Vis-à-vis'' (2002), became a Best Male Vocal Performance-nominee in favor of local Aurel Awards. While '' The Past of the Future'' (2008) with a more acoustic sound, was nominated for so-called Radio Head Awards, for a change. Supergrass
Supergrass are an English rock band formed in 1993. For the majority of the band's tenure, the line-up consisted of brothers Gaz (lead vocals, guitar) and Rob Coombes (keyboards), Mick Quinn (bass, backing vocals) and Danny Goffey (drums, backing vocals). Originally a three-piece, the band was officially joined by Rob Coombes in 2002. Martin Newell (born 4 March 1953) is an English singer–songwriter, poet, columnist and author who leads the Cleaners from Venus, a guitar pop band with Jangle pop, jangly, upbeat arrangements.
