"Some Days You Gotta Dance" is a song written by Troy Johnson and Marshall Morgan, and recorded by American country music group Dixie Chicks. It was released in September 2001 as the eighth and final single from their album '' Fly''. The song peaked at #7 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in March 2002. The Chicks
The Chicks (previously known as Dixie Chicks) are an American country music band from Dallas, Texas. Since 1995, the band has consisted of Natalie Maines (lead vocals, guitar) and sisters Martie Maguire (vocals, fiddle, mandolin, guitar) and Emily Strayer (vocals, guitar, banjo, Dobro). Maguire and Strayer, both née Erwin, founded the band in 1989 in Dallas, Texas, with bassist Laura Lynch and vocalist and guitarist Robin Lynn Macy. They performed bluegrass and country music, busking and touring the bluegrass festival circuits and small venues for six years without attracting a major label. In 1992, Macy left and Lynch became the lead vocalist. Upon signing with Monument Records Nashville in 1997 and replacing Lynch with Maines, the Chicks achieved success with their albums '' Wide Open Spaces'' (1998) and '' Fly'' (1999). The Ranch (band)
The Ranch was a New Zealand-Australian-American country music trio, which formed in 1997 by Keith Urban (guitar, keyboards and vocals), Jerry Flowers (bass guitar and background vocals) and Peter Clarke (drums and vocals). Most of the group's material was co-written by Urban and Vernon Rust. They issued a self-titled album on Capitol Records in that year, and two related singles, "Walkin' the Country" and "Just Some Love", which appeared on the country charts before the group disbanded in 1998. Besides its two singles, ''The Ranch'' included "Some Days You Gotta Dance", which was issued in 2001 as a single by the Dixie Chicks, and also had Urban on guitar. ''Covers'' is the eighteenth studio album and the first " cover" album by singer-songwriter James Taylor released in 2008. The album was recorded with his regular touring band. Some of the tunes Taylor had been performing off and on in concerts for years, while others were new to his repertoire. It received general positive reviews and two Grammy Award nominations. History The album was recorded over ten snowed-in days in January 2008, in a converted barn in Weston, Massachusetts. Taylor was able to assemble his regular touring group (lately dubbed "The Band of Legends") to all be present at the same time, which was rare in the contemporary recording scene. The Vote for Change tour was a politically motivated American popular music concert tour that took place in October 2004. The tour was presented by MoveOn.org to benefit America Coming Together. The tour was held in swing states and was designed to encourage people to register and vote. Though the tour and the organization were officially non-partisan, many of the performers urged people to vote against then President George W. Bush and for John Kerry in the 2004 Presidential election campaign. Bush would defeat Kerry in November 2004.
