Somaliland Coast Guard
The Somaliland Coast Guard ( so, Ciidanka ilaalada Xeebaha Somaliland, ar, خفر سواحل صوماليلاندي) is the maritime law enforcement, search and rescue and coastal defence branch of Somaliland Armed Forces, founded on 2 October 1995. Organization Rank structure Equipment In 2011, the Somaliland Coast Guard had extremely limited equipment. Their vessels consisted of two 20-foot motor boats and they were armed with AK-47 rifles and RPG-7 rocket launchers. In the following decade, the Coast Guard received a total of seven ''Defender''-class boats, four from Italy and three from Sweden. Additionally, the SLCG received three cars from the European Union in 2018. The Somaliland National Armed Forces consist of the Somaliland National Army, the Somaliland Coast Guard, the Somaliland Police Force, the Somaliland Custodial Corps, the Somaliland Immigration and Border Control and the Somaliland Fire Brigade. There is no air force. The Armed Forces is under the command of President Muse Bihi Abdi, who is the Commander-in-chief. Minister of Defence Abdiqani Mohamoud Aateye is the designated minister that oversees the armed forces. Somaliland has 85 T-54/55 tanks, 6 armoured fighting vehicles, 100-200 rocket projectors, and 45 artillery in its national army, and 100,000 soldiers. RPG-7
The RPG-7 (russian: link=no, РПГ-7, Ручной Противотанковый Гранатомёт, Ruchnoy Protivotankoviy Granatomyot) is a portable, reusable, unguided, shoulder-launched, anti-tank, rocket-propelled grenade launcher. The RPG-7 and its predecessor, the RPG-2, were designed by the Soviet Union, and are now manufactured by the Russian company Bazalt. The weapon has the GRAU index (Russian armed forces index) 6G3. The ruggedness, simplicity, low cost, and effectiveness of the RPG-7 has made it the most widely used anti-armor weapon in the world. The Defender-class boat, also called Response Boat–Small (RB-S) and Response Boat–Homeland Security (RB-HS), is a standard boat introduced by the United States Coast Guard in 2002.
