Solveig Bergman
Solveig Bergman (born 1955) is a Finnish sociologist who in 2003 was appointed director of the Nordic Gender Institute (NIKK) in Oslo. A researcher at Ã…bo Akademi University, she earned a doctorate in 2002 with a thesis on feminist movements in Finland and West German. Active in feminist organizations, she has taken part in European Union initiatives including the European Platform of Women Scientists (EPWS). Noe a researcher at Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies, since 2023 she has coordinated a European Economic Area (EEA) research project on women violence shelters in Norway and Slovakia. Nordic Gender Institute
The Nordic Gender Institute (NIKK) (''Norwegian: Nordisk institutt for kunnskap om kjønn''), previously ''Nordic Institute for Women's Studies and Gender Research'', was a transnational resource and information centre for gender research and gender equality in the Nordic countries. It was established in 1995 by the Nordic Council of Ministers and closed down in 2011. The Institute aimed at constituting a bridge between Nordic gender research and equality politics. It co-operated closely with the Nordic Ministers for Co-operation on Gender Equality and the Nordic Executive Committee on Gender Equality. It claimed to contribute to the implementation of the Nordic cooperation programme on gender equality: "Focus on Gender: Working toward an Equal Society" (2006-2010). Ã…bo Akademi University ( , ) is the only exclusively Swedish language multi-faculty university in Finland (or anywhere outside Sweden). It is located mainly in Turku (Ã…bo is the Swedish name of the city) but has also activities in Vaasa. The European Platform of Women Scientists EPWS is an umbrella organisation bringing together networks of women scientists and organisations committed to gender equality in research in all disciplines in Europe 27 and the countries associated to the European Union's Framework Programmes for Research and Technological Development. Norwegian Centre For Violence And Traumatic Stress Studies
The Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies (, NKVTS) is a research centre in Oslo, Norway, and Norway's national research institution in violence and sexual abuse; disaster management, terrorism, armed conflicts and traumatic stress; and forced migration and refugee health research. It is interdisciplinary and employs experts mainly in psychology, psychiatry, and the social sciences. In addition to carrying out research and related activities, the institute advises the Government of Norway in its areas of expertise and has some official emergency management functions at the national level. The European Economic Area (EEA) was established via the ''Agreement on the European Economic Area'', an international agreement which enables the extension of the European Union's single market to member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). The EEA links the EU member states and three of the four EFTA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway) into an internal market governed by the same EU laws. These rules aim to enable free movement of persons, goods, services, and capital within the European single market, including the freedom to choose residence in any country within this area.
