LaserDisc Releases
LaserDisc (LD) is a home video format and the first commercial optical disc storage medium. It was developed by Philips, Pioneer, and the movie studio MCA. The format was initially marketed in the United States in 1978 under the name DiscoVision, a brand used by MCA. As Pioneer took a greater role in its development and promotion, the format was rebranded LaserVision. While the LaserDisc brand originally referred specifically to Pioneer's line of players, the term gradually came to be used generically to refer to the format as a whole, making it a genericized trademark. The discs typically have a diameter of , similar in size to the phonograph record. Unlike most later optical disc formats, LaserDisc is not fully digital; it stores an analog video signal. Many titles featured CD-quality digital audio, and LaserDisc was the first home video format to support surround sound. Its 425 to 440 horizontal lines of resolution was nearly double that of consumer competing consumer ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Films Directed By Hal Ashby
A film, also known as a movie or motion picture, is a work of visual art that simulates experiences and otherwise communicates ideas, stories, perceptions, emotions, or atmosphere through the use of moving images that are generally, since the 1930s, synchronized with sound and (less commonly) other sensory stimulations. Etymology and alternative terms The name "film" originally referred to the thin layer of photochemical emulsion on the celluloid strip that used to be the actual medium for recording and displaying motion pictures. Many other terms exist for an individual motion-picture, including "picture", "picture show", "moving picture", "photoplay", and "flick". The most common term in the United States is "movie", while in Europe, "film" is preferred. Archaic terms include "animated pictures" and "animated photography". "Flick" is, in general a slang term, first recorded in 1926. It originates in the verb flicker, owing to the flickering appearance of early films. ... Lucky Thirteen (Neil Young Album)
''Lucky Thirteen'' is a compilation album by Canadian / American musician Neil Young, released in 1993. It contains thirteen of Young's Geffen-era songs between 1982 and 1988, including five tracks that were previously unreleased, and three that are slightly different edits to their original versions. It was the first Neil Young album (solo or otherwise) not to be distributed by Warner Music Group. Two years after Young's departure from Geffen, the label, originally distributed by Warner Bros. Records, was sold to MCA Music Entertainment. Young's Geffen-era recordings, now owned by Universal Music Group, represent the only works in his catalog that are not owned by Warner Music Group, with which he has had a long-standing relationship, dating to when his first band Buffalo Springfield was signed to Atco Records (which was actually not a sister label to WBR at the time of the signing, only becoming so in 1967). Landing On Water
''Landing on Water'' is the 16th studio album by Neil Young. The album was released on July 21, 1986, by Geffen Records. The album represents a return to a contemporary rock sound after the 1985 country album '' Old Ways'' and 1983 rockabilly album '' Everybody's Rockin'''. Young's record company, Geffen famously had sued the artist for creating albums unrepresentative of his familiar style. For ''Landing on Water'', Young employed producer Danny Kortchmar, engineer Niko Bolas and studio drummer Steve Jordan. The album is noted for its unique production and synthetic 1980s sound with prominent drums, synclavier and synthesizers, giving it a "claustrophobic" feel. According to Young in a 2009 interview, "one record company president in Europe told me it was the most claustrophobic record he had ever heard, and I thought that was pretty cool. He put it on in his Porsche and would turn it up real loud. He just felt like it was all over him." Recording First attempts Like its prede ...
