Solitary (album)
''Solitary'' is a 2008 acoustic rock album by Don Dokken (singer of his original band Dokken). The album was only sold to fans attending his tour for the album, but was rereleased digitally with additional tracks in 2014, then on physical media in 2020. It was released on October 21, 2008, exactly eighteen years after his first solo album, '' Up from the Ashes''. Don Dokken
Donald Maynard Dokken (born June 29, 1953) is an American singer and musician. He's best known for being the lead singer, occasional guitarist, and founder of the glam metal band Dokken. He is known for his vibrato-laden, melodic vocal style which has made him an influential figure in American heavy metal/glam metal. After enjoying mainstream success with Dokken, he parted ways with the band in 1988 and pursued a solo career. His 1990 solo album, '' Up from the Ashes'', spawned two singles and achieved modest success. He released his second solo album, titled '' Solitary'', in 2008, which was a stylistic departure from his Dokken material. Don reformed Dokken in the early 1990s and has been continuing on with the band ever since. He is the only remaining original member of Dokken. Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Some of the earliest hard rock music was produced by the Kinks, the Who, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In the late 1960s, bands such as Blue Cheer, the Jeff Beck Group, Iron Butterfly, Led Zeppelin, Golden Earring, Steppenwolf and Deep Purple also produced hard rock. Up From The Ashes (Don Dokken Album)
''Up from the Ashes'' is the first solo studio album by Don Dokken, best known as the lead singer of American glam metal band Dokken. The sound of the album continues the more commercial sound that Dokken began to incorporate into their music with '' Under Lock and Key''. The album did not quite achieve the commercial success achieved by Dokken, but it did reach the Top 50 on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart in the US. The line-up for this album consisted of Don Dokken performing vocals, John Norum formerly of Europe on lead guitar, Billy White formerly of Watchtower on lead guitar, Peter Baltes formerly of Accept on bass, and Mikkey Dee formerly of King Diamond and subsequently of Motörhead on drums. The original drummer for the Don Dokken band was Hempo Hildén, formerly in John Norum's band but he was replaced after a few photo sessions and does not play on the album. Dokken is an American glam metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1978. It split up in 1989 and reformed four years later. Michael Thompson (born Michael Wood Thompson, February 11, 1954 in Port Washington, New York) is an American guitarist and songwriter. Thompson is known for his work as a session guitarist during the last 4 decades. He founded the rock group TRW in 2007. Early years Michael Thompson grew up in Port Washington, New York and attended Berklee College of Music for two years, studying with Pat Metheny before leaving to tour and record with a local R&B/funk group called The Ellis Hall Group. After four years with the group, Thompson moved to Los Angeles in the hopes of starting a career as a studio musician, almost immediately getting a touring gig with Joe Cocker. Vincent Peter Colaiuta (born February 5, 1956) is an American drummer who has worked as a session musician in many genres. He was inducted into the '' Modern Drummer'' Hall of Fame in 1996 and the ''Classic Drummer'' Hall of Fame in 2014. Colaiuta has won one Grammy Award and has been nominated twice. Since the late 1970s, he has recorded and toured with Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell, and Sting, among many other appearances in the studio and in concert.
