Solidarity (Czech Republic)
Solidarity () is a Prague electoral coalition formed for the 2022 City Council election. Its members are ČSSD, Green Party, Idealists and Budoucnost, headed by former ombudswoman Anna Šabatová, who is running as an independent candidate. The coalition officially launched its campaign on June 6, 2022 in front of the Municipal House in thecity centre. Its slogan is "Solidarity against selfishness". Program The coalition profiles itself as a " progressive project that emphasizes ecological and economic sustainability and social justice". It advocates a solution to the housing crisis through the large-scale construction of affordable city-owned apartments so that they could be available to the middle class in addition to those most in need, support for cooperative construction, support for the Housing First project, strengthening of tenants' rights or granting developers the obligation to transfer part of new housing construction to the city fund. Anna Šabatová
Anna Šabatová (born 23 June 1951) is a Czech politician, and former Ombudsman#Czech Republic, ombudsman of the Czech Republic. She was a signatory to Charter 77 and its spokesperson in 1986. Šabatová was awarded the United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights in 1998. She received the Medal of Merit (Czech Republic), Czech Medal of Merit (First Grade) in 2002 and Order of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk III. Class in 2024. In 2014, Šabatová was elected as the ombudsman of the Czech Republic, replacing Pavel Varvařovský. 2022 Prague Municipal Election
The 2022 Prague municipal election was held in September 2022 as part of the 2022 Czech municipal elections, nationwide municipal elections to elect members of the Prague City Assembly. It was a victory for Spolu (Czech Republic), Spolu which received the highest number of votes and seats ahead of ANO 2011 in second place. The Czech Pirate Party led by incumbent Mayor Zdeněk Hřib finished third. New coalition was formed 5 months after election and it consists of Spolu, Pirates and STAN. Bohuslav Svoboda became the new mayor. Housing First is a policy that offers unconditional, permanent housing as quickly as possible to homeless people, and other supportive services afterward.
