Solange Macamo
Dr Solange Laura Macamo is lecturer of Archaeology and Heritage Management in the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology, Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique. From 2010 to 2016 she was also the National Director for Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mozambique. Career Macamo is a lecturer in archaeology and heritage in Mozambique. She studied for her doctorate at Uppsala University in archaeology of southern Mozambique from the thirteenth to eighteenth centuries. Her research interests include pottery from the Massangir District, where variations in pottery style reflect migration around the region. She has worked on rock art sites in Mozambique viewing them as cultural landscapes. One geographical area of interest for Macamo is the Zambezi River Basin. Macamo also works on the archaeology of urban landscapes in Mozambique. She has also strongly advocated for the protection of Mozambique's underwater archaeology. Eduardo Mondlane University
The Eduardo Mondlane University (; UEM) is the oldest and largest university in Mozambique. The UEM is a secular public university, unaffiliated with any religion, and does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, ethnicity, or religion. The university is located in Maputo and has about 40,000 students enrolled. History The institution was set up as a center for higher education in 1962 in what was then Lourenço Marques, the capital of Portugal's overseas province of Mozambique. Founded by the time of Overseas Minister Adriano Moreira, it was called ''Estudos Gerais Universitários de Moçambique'' (Mozambique General University Studies) after '' Studium Generale''; in 1968 it became the Universidade de Lourenço Marques (University of Lourenço Marques). Massingir District
Massingir District is a district of Gaza Province in southwestern Mozambique. The administrative center of the district is in Massingir. The district is located in the west of the province, and borders with Chicualacuala District in the north, Mabalane District in the east, Chókwè District in the southeast, Magude District of Maputo Province in the south, and with South Africa in the west. The area of the district is . It has a population of 28,470 (2007). Geography The Rio dos Elefantes and the Mazimulhpe River are the principal rivers in the area. Katembe
Katembe, also Catembe is an urban center in Mozambique. Located on the Maputo Bay, it is a suburb of Maputo, the national capital. The name also applies to the administrative district, of which the town is the headquarters. Location Katembe is located on the south-western side of Maputo Bay, near the Estuário do Espírito Santo where the rivers Tembe River, Tembe, Mbuluzi River, Mbuluzi, Matola River, Matola and Infulene River, Infulene converge.
