Sol Tremelling
Elijah Solomon Tremelling (8 May 1887 – December 1960) was an English professional footballer who played as a centre half. Early and personal life Tremelling was born in Newhall, Derbyshire, on 8 May 1887. His brothers Dan and Billy were also footballers, as was a fourth brother, Jack. His son Arthur was also a footballer. Career Tremelling spent his early career with Newhall Swifts, Derby County, Burton United, Ilkeston United, Gresley Rovers and Shirebrook Forest. He joined Bradford City in March 1913,Frost, p. 409 making 2 league appearances for the club. He signed for Bradford City along with fellow Gresley players Charlie Storer and George Draycott for a combined fee of £150. He guested for Chesterfield Town, Notts County and Lincoln City during World War One, both from parent club Bradford City. Newhall, Derbyshire
Newhall is a suburban settlement located in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire, England. As of the 2011 census it had a population of 776. The village of Stanton is nearby. Newhall village A commuter settlement between Swadlincote and Burton upon Trent the village lies between the A444 to its south and the A511 to its north. To its east is the market town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, very close to the M42 linking Nottingham (NE) and Birmingham (SW). Burton upon Trent is to the west with the A38 heading south to Lichfield and north for Derby and the M1. Slightly further north is the A50 linking the Stoke-on-Trent and the M6 motorway (east) one way and the M1 and Leicestershire (west) the other. It is geographically well placed for the major road network in all directions. Swadlincote is the closest population centre, though it is effectively a northern suburb of the town. Billy Tremelling
William Reuben Tremelling (9 May 1905 — 5 November 1961) was an English professional footballer. He played as a forward at the beginning of his career, but was later played as a defender. Family His brothers Dan and Sol were also footballers, as was a fourth brother, Jack. His nephew Arthur (son of Sol) was also a footballer. Career After starting out with Shirebrook, Kirby Colliery, Welbeck Colliery, Mansfield Town, Retford Town and Worksop Town, in 1925 he joined Blackpool, then in the Second Division, with whom he spent five years. Tremelling made his debut for Blackpool on 28 March 1925, in a goalless draw at Manchester United in front of a crowd of 30,000. He made one more league appearance in the 1924–25 season, in the very next game (a home victory over Southampton), but missed the final eight games of the season. Richard Daniel Tremelling (12 November 1897 – 15 August 1970) was an English professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He made nearly 450 appearances in the Football League for Birmingham and Bury, including more than 300 in the First Division, and was capped for England. Family His brothers Sol and Billy were also footballers, as was a fourth brother, Jack. His nephew Arthur (son of Sol) was also a footballer. Playing career Tremelling was born in Newhall, Derbyshire. He first played for his local team, Langwith Colliery Junction Wagon Works, as a full back, but went in goal when they were hit by injuries. He played for Mansfield Town, and appeared for Lincoln City in wartime competition, but moved to Birmingham before league football resumed after the First World War.
