Sol Pais
Sol Leonina Pais (February 1, 2001 – April 15, 2019) was an American student who received national attention after she became the suspect in a large FBI manhunt in 2019. Pais had flown from Miami to Colorado and purchased a shotgun from a private dealer. After her parents informed authorities that she was missing, she was traced to Colorado. Police recognized Pais as Armed and Dangerous; a BOLO alert was put out, and a large manhunt ensued. After Pais was reported as missing, Miami police discovered her alleged infatuation with the Columbine High School massacre, particularly with its perpetrators, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. With the 20th anniversary of the massacre about a week away, and Pais showing intent to purchase a shotgun in Colorado, police believed she was planning a copycat massacre around April 20. Tom Sullivan (Colorado Politician)
Leo Thomas Sullivan III (born May 17, 1956) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Colorado Senate. He represents District 27, which includes all or parts of Aurora, Centennial, Dove Valley, Inverness and Foxfield in Arapahoe and Douglas counties. Prior to his tenure in the state senate, Sullivan served in the Colorado House of Representatives, representing the 37th district in Arapahoe County. The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) is a background check system in the United States created by the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 to prevent firearm sales to people prohibited under the Act. The system was launched by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 1998. Under the system, firearm dealers, manufacturers or importers who hold a Federal Firearms License (FFL) are required to undertake a NICS background check on prospective buyers before transferring a firearm. The NICS is not intended to be a gun registry, but is a list of persons prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm.
