Sokratis Papastathopoulos
Sokratis Papastathopoulos (; born 9 June 1988), also known mononymously as Sokratis, is a Greek former professional Association football, footballer who played as a centre-back. Club career AEK Athens Papastathopoulos joined AEK Athens from Apollon Petalidiou after being scouted by Toni Savevski. On 26 October 2005, he made his debut for AEK in a Greek Football Cup, Greek Cup match against PAS Giannina F.C., PAS Giannina, scoring in the seventh minute of the game to help lead AEK to a 3–0 win. In January 2006, he was loaned to Beta Ethniki club Niki Volos F.C., Niki Volos for six months to gain first-team football experience. He made 15 appearances for Niki Volos. During the 2006–07 Super League Greece, Papastathopoulos managed to make 14 appearances whilst competing against the likes of Bruno Cirillo, Traianos Dellas and Vangelis Moras. Greece National Football Team
The Greece national football team (, ) represents Greece in men's international Association football, football matches, and is controlled by the Hellenic Football Federation, the governing body for football in Greece. Greece is one of only ten national teams to have been crowned List of UEFA European Championship finals, UEFA European Champions. Greece's first appearance in a major tournament was at UEFA Euro 1980 where they were knocked out in the group stage. Their qualification to the then eight-team UEFA European Championship gave them a position in the top eight European football nations that year. UEFA European Under-19 Championship
The UEFA European Under-19 Championship, or simply the Euro Under-19, is an annual football competition, contested by the European men's under-19 national teams of the UEFA member associations. Spain is the most successful team in this competition, having won twelve titles. Spain are also the current champions. History and format The competition has been held since 1948. It was originally called the FIFA International Youth Tournament, until it was taken over by UEFA in 1956. In 1980, it was restyled the UEFA European Under-18 Championship. 2006–07 UEFA Champions League
The 2006–07 UEFA Champions League was the 15th season of UEFA's premier European club football tournament, the UEFA Champions League, since it was rebranded from the European Cup, and the 52nd season overall. The final was contested by Milan and Liverpool on 23 May 2007. Beforehand, the match was billed as a repeat of the 2005 final, the only difference being that the 2007 final was to be played at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece. Vangelis Moras
Evangelos "Vangelis" Moras (; born 26 August 1981) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a centre back and currently a manager. Club career Early years Moras started his football Ampelokipoi Larissa playing as a striker having Marco Van Basten as his idol. In 1999, aged 18, along with his Ampelokipoi teammate Kostas Paparizos, he moved to Beta Ethniki side AEL. During his 2-year sting with AEL, Moras was converted to a defender after Serbian coach Nebojsa Licanin changed his position. In 2001 after AEL relegated to Gamma Ethniki he signed for Proodeftiki helping the club win promotion and return the first division in 2002. AEK Athens After having impressed in his first season in the first division, Moras was transferred to AEK Athens for €260,000, as a personal choice of the then coach, Dušan Bajević. Traianos Dellas
Traianos Dellas (; born 31 January 1976) is a Greek professional football manager and former player. He last managed Super League club OFI. He was an integral part of Greece's Euro 2004 winning squad, during which he became the only player to score a silver goal in an international football match. Club career Dellas started playing football professionally in 1993 at Aris for two years, where he helped the Thessaloniki side qualify for the 1994–95 UEFA Cup. He played alongside Fanis Katergiannakis, who was also part of the Greek squad at Euro 2004. In the summer of 1994, Dellas was loaned to Panserraikos for two seasons, where he quickly became a regular. Dellas came back to Aris before leaving for England to join Sheffield United. Bruno Cirillo
Bruno Cirillo (born 21 March 1977) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. He moved clubs frequently throughout his career, spending two spells at AEK Athens and a further three years at PAOK, both in Greece, in addition to brief spells in Spain, Cyprus, France and India. Cirillo played for Italy at under-21 level and was included in their squad for the 2000 Olympics. The 2006–07 Super League Greece was the 71st season of the highest football league of Greece and the inaugural under the name ''Super League''. The season began on 19 August 2006 and ended on 13 May 2007. Olympiacos clinched the title on 22 April with their victory over Kerkyra, for their third straight title and 10th in the last 11 years. For the next season, Ionikos, Kerkyra and Egaleo have been relegated to B' Ethniki given that they have finished in the lowest three spots of the table. The Football League () was the second highest professional football league in Greece since its inception in 1962 as ''Beta Ethniki'' and until 2019. The Greek Football Cup (), commonly known as the Greek Cup or Betsson Greek Cup for sponsorship reasons is a Greek football competition, run by the Hellenic Football Federation. The Greek Cup is the second-most important domestic men's football event, after the championship of Super League. The organizing authority of the institution is the Hellenic Football Federation ( EPO). Since its inception in 1931 it has been held 83 times, with a cup winner being crowned on 82 occasions. Toni Savevski
Toni Savevski (; born 14 June 1963) is a Macedonian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Savevski is widely regarded as one of the best foreign players to have played in the Greek football league. After retiring from as a footballer in 2001 he became manager and managed several clubs in Cyprus, most notably Omonia. Club career Savevski started his career in Pelister and in 1980 he moved to Vardar. In 1987 he won the Yugoslav First League, but since a point deduction punishment of Partizan was overturned, the title eventually was awarded to the latter. In November 1988 he signed for AEK Athens at the request of their manager, Dušan Bajević. Savevski quickly developed into one of the team's consistent players and at the end of the season he won the league.
