Canopus is the brightest star in the southern constellation of Carina (constellation), Carina and the list of brightest stars, second-brightest star in the night sky. It is also Bayer designation, designated α Carinae, which is Romanization, romanized (Transliteration, transliterated) to Alpha Carinae.
