Sofiia Mykhailivna Yevdokymenko-Rotaru (; uk, Софі́я Миха́йлівна Рота́ру ; russian: Софи́я Миха́йловна Рота́ру; born 7 August 1947), known simply as Sofia Rotaru, is a Ukrainian pop singer of Romanian origin. Rotaru, nicknamed "Bukovinsky Solovey" ("the Nightingale from Bukovina"), emerged in 1966 as a pop folk star in the movie ''Solovei iz sela Marshyntsi'' (Nightingale from Marshyntsi) in the Romanian and Ukrainian-speaking world after her manager and future husband Anatoliy Yevdokymenko made her change her music style from folk to pop music with Chervona Ruta. In 1972, she released the multilingual album ''Sofia Rotaru'', re-released three times and covered by numerous singers, establishing herself as a viable pop artist in the countries of the former Soviet Union. Marshyntsi
Marshyntsi ( uk, Маршинці; ro, Marșenița) is one of the Romanian-speaking villages of the Chernivtsi Raion (district) of Chernivtsi Oblast (province) in western Ukraine (the historical region of Bessarabia). It belongs to Novoselytsia urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The first written mention of this village dates back to 1611. The village is located 30 km from Chernivtsi. Until 18 July 2020, Marshyntsi belonged to Novoselytsia Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Chernivtsi Oblast to three. The area of Novoselytsia Raion was split between Chernivtsi and Dnistrovskyi Raions, with Marshyntsi being transferred to Chernivtsi Raion. The Order of Friendship of Peoples (russian: oрден Дружбы народов, translit=orden Druzhby narodov) was an order of the Soviet Union, and was awarded to persons (including non-citizens), organizations, enterprises, military units, as well as administrative subdivisions of the USSR for accomplishments in strengthening of inter-ethnic and international friendship and cooperation, for economical, political, scientific, military, and cultural development of the Soviet Union. It was established on December 17, 1972, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Soviet Union. The design of order was created by Alexander Zhuk. The status of Order was slightly amended by the Supreme Council of the Soviet Union in July 1980. It was abolished in December 1991. Sopot International Song Festival
The Sopot International Song Festival or Sopot Festival (later called ''Sopot Music Festival Grand Prix'', ''Sopot Top of the Top Festival'' from 2012–13 and ''Polsat Sopot Festival'' in 2014) is an annual international song contest held in Sopot, Poland. It is the biggest Polish music festival altogether with the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole, and one of the biggest song contests in Europe. The contest was organised and transmitted live by the public Polish Television (TVP) between 1994 and 2004. The following year, the concert was broadcast by the private media station TVN for the first time and remained on TVN until 2009. From 2012 to 2014, the concert was broadcast and organised by Polsat. Anatoliy Kyrylovych Yevdokymenko ( uk, Анато́лій Кири́лович Євдоки́менко; 20 January 1942 – 23 October 2002) was a Ukrainian musician, director of Chervona Ruta. He is a People's Artist of Ukraine, husband of Sofia Rotaru (marriage: 22 September 1968). Graduated from the Physics and Mathematics department of the Chernivtsi University. He was producer and scenario writer for most of concert programmes and tours of Sofia Rotaru. In 2003, the street where he lived in Chernivtsi was named after his name. Biography Yevdokymenko was born on 20 January 1942 in the village of Kapitanivka (now Lyman district of Odesa Oblast). He studied at the Chernivtsi secondary school of I-III degrees No. 3.
