Academic Journal
An academic journal (or scholarly journal or scientific journal) is a periodical publication in which Scholarly method, scholarship relating to a particular academic discipline is published. They serve as permanent and transparent forums for the dissemination, scrutiny, and discussion of research. Contemporary Sociology
''Contemporary Sociology'' is a bi-monthly peer-reviewed academic journal of sociology published by SAGE Publications in association with the American Sociological Association since 1972. Each issue of the journal publishes many in-depth as well as brief reviews of recent publications in sociology and related disciplines, as well as a list of publications received that have not been reviewed. In 2010 the journal published just under 400 book reviews. In addition, the journal also publishes a small number of review essays and discursive articles in each issue. International Review Of Social History
The ''International Review of Social History'' (IRSH) is a scholarly journal founded, in its current format, in 1956, by the International Institute of Social History (IISH). The current academic journal revived an earlier publication by the same name issued by IISH from 1936 until its termination due to the approach of World War II in 1938. History Precursor In 1936, the International Institute of Social History established its first publication, the ''International Review for Social History'' (IRSH). This publication was joined by another, the ''Bulletin of the International Review of Social History,'' in 1937. Electronic Journal Of Sociology
The ''Electronic Journal of Sociology'' was an online open access academic journal of sociology. It was established in 1994 by Michael Sosteric. Andreas Scheider was editor-in-chief until 2004, when Sosteric returned and Adam Rafalovich became co-editor-in-chief. The journal implemented a new approach in 2004 whereby it decided to publish three tiers of articles: fully reviewed original articles at tier 1, editorially-reviewed reviews and commentaries at tier 2, and editorially-reviewed other works, including original papers, at tier 3. Although the journal "achieved international recognition", as an electronic journal it faced barriers. In 1996, the journal was criticized by its rival, '' Sociological Research Online'', which suggested that its conventional approach to reviewing articles was more rigorous.
