The Jewish Agency for Israel (), formerly known as the Jewish Agency for Palestine, is the largest Jews, Jewish non-profit organization in the world. It was established in 1929 as the operative branch of the World Zionist Organization (WZO). As an organization, it encourages immigration of Jewish diaspora, Jews in diaspora to the Land of Israel, and oversees their integration with the Israel, State of Israel. Since 1948, the Jewish Agency claims to have brought 3 million immigrants to Israel, where it offers them transitional housing in "absorption centers" throughout the country. David Ben-Gurion served as its chairman of the executive committee from 1935, and in this capacity on 14 May 1948, he Israeli Declaration of Independence, proclaimed Israel's independence, following which he served as the List of prime ministers of Israel, first Israeli prime minister. Doron Almog
Doron Almog (; born 1951 as Doron Avrotzky) is a former major general in the Israel Defense Forces reserves. In 2016, he received the Israel Prize for his lifetime of achievement.Israel Prize awarded to 11 outstanding citizens

Biography

Doron Almog was born in Rishon LeZion, the eldest of four children. He attended the Hebrew Reali School in Haifa, and attended military boarding school while in high school. In 1973, his brother Eran, a soldier in the IDF Armored Corps (Israel), Armored Corps, was killed in action during the Yom Kippur War.
