Sobo Katamuki Prefectural Natural Park (Miyazaki)
was a Prefectural Natural Park in northern Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. In 2017 it was incorporated into the Sobo, Katamuki and Okue Biosphere Reserve. Established in 1958, the park spanned the municipalities of Hinokage, Nobeoka, and Takachiho. The park encompasses the Gokasho plateau, stretches of the Hinokage and Mōnose rivers, and . Mount Sobo
is one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains. The mountain lies on the border of Taketa and Bungo-ōno in Ōita Prefecture and Takachiho, Nishiusuki District in Miyazaki Prefecture. It is within the Sobo, Katamuki and Okue Biosphere Reserve. Mount Sobo is the highest peak in Miyazaki Prefecture and in Ōita Prefecture only the middle peak of Mount Kujū is higher. The Sobo Mountain range extends into three prefectures: Ōita, Miyazaki and Kumamoto. Because of the volcanic activity which formed the mountain, huge rocks can be found everywhere around the mountain. There is a great variety of mountain climbing routes, ranging from animal trails to well maintained paths. Courses ae available from relaxed hiking for enjoyment to cliff climbing routes aimed at advanced climbers. Steep rock climbing routes can be seen from all trails in the neighbourhood of the summit. The Sobo, Katamuki and Okue Biosphere Reserve also known as was created in 2017. It incorporates the 1965 quasi national parks of Sobo Katamuki Prefectural Natural Park (Ōita) (also previously known as the Sobo-Katamuki Quasi-National Park, ) and Sobo Katamuki Prefectural Natural Park (Miyazaki). Nobeoka, Miyazaki
is a city located in the north of Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. As of June 1, 2019, the city has an estimated population of 119,521 and a population density of 138 persons per km². The total area is . History The city was officially founded on February 11, 1933, after it gained city status. During World War II, it was one of the most important centers of military explosives in Japan. On the night of June 28-29th, 1945, 117 United States B-29s fire-bombed the city, destroying 1.35 square km, or 36% of the city. Takachiho, Miyazaki
is a town in Nishiusuki District, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. As of October 1, 2019, the town has an estimated population of 11,959 and a density of 50.3 persons per km². The total area is 237.54 km². Geography Takachiho is in the northernmost part of Miyazaki Prefecture, bordering Kumamoto Prefecture on its north and northwest sides and Ōita Prefecture on its north and northeast sides. The Gokase River flows from the west to the southeast part of town. The heart of the town is at its center, around the now-defunct Takachiho Station and the business office of Takachiho Kotsu, the town's public transportation company.
