Smyrna My Beloved
''Smyrna, my Beloved'' () is a 2021 Greek Epic film, historical epic film directed by Grigoris Karantinakis about the burning of Smyrna (today's İzmir, Izmir, Turkey) by the Turkish army in September 1922. The film stars Mimi Denisi, Burak Hakkı, Rupert Graves and Susan Hampshire. Summary The story follows the wealthy Greek ''Baltatzis'' family in the multicultural city of Smyrna during the Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922), Greco-Turkish War 1919-1922 and after the Turkish army entered the city in 1922, and shows the suffering and exodus of the ethnic Greeks of the city. Screenings The film premiered at Megaron-Athens Concert Hall. The film screened at Redstone Theatre through Museum of the Moving Image in May 2022. Reception Reviews A review in ''The National Herald'' said, "The film is also a lesson about showing compassion to others in their times of need." Burak Hakkı
Burak Hakkı (; born 23 May 1972) is a Turkish actor and model. Biography After the Ottoman Empire collapsed, his paternal family which is of Turkish descent immigrated from Komotini and Thessaloniki. He won the Best Model of Turkey in 1994. He was a basketball player in Nasaş Basketball Club. Hakkı is best known for his roles as Hüseyin Kenan in ''Dudaktan Kalbe'' based on the classic novel by Reşat Nuri Güntekin and as Kayqubad I the Seljuq Sultan of Rûm in ''Diriliş: Ertuğrul'' and as Ali in :tr:Kaybolan Yıllar (dizi), Kaybolan Yıllar. Hakkı acted in "Bir Günah Gibi" series which not a direct adaptation of second novel "Kurt Seyt ve Murka" by Nermin Bezmen. It cancelled due to low ratings series. He played in series ''Yeniden Çalıkuşu'' which is not a direct adaptation of the classic novel Çalıkuşu by Reşat Nuri Güntekin. But the series cancelled. ''NEO'' was a monthly magazine published in the United Kingdom and Ireland by Uncooked Media. The magazine focused on various aspects of East Asian entertainment, such as Japanese anime and manga, East Asian cinema, cosplay, music, and more.
