Smut is an American indie rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio now based in Chicago, Illinois. History Smut began in 2014 with the release of their debut EP ''Purse''. In 2016, Smut released their second EP titled ''Sam-Soon''. In 2017, the band released their debut album, ''End of Sam-Soon''. In 2020, Smut released their third EP titled ''Power Fantasy''. In 2022, Smut announced plans to release their second full-length album with Bayonet Records. The album, ''How the Light Felt'', was released on November 11, 2022. The album received positive reviews. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand in the early to mid-1980s. Although the term was originally used to describe rock music released through independent record labels, by the 1990s it became more widely associated with the music such bands produced. The sound of indie rock has its origins in the New Zealand Dunedin sound of the Chills, Tall Dwarfs, the Clean and the Verlaines, and early 1980s college rock radio stations who would frequently play jangle pop bands like the Smiths and R.E.M. ''Loud and Quiet'' is a British bi-monthly music magazine that focuses on new music from underground indie, alternative, electronic and hip hop artists. History and profile The magazine was founded in January 2005 by Stuart Stubbs as a home-printed fanzine in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. It relocated to London in 2006. Issue 01 of ''Loud And Quiet'' featured Pete Doherty on its cover.
