Small Faces Discography
The Small Faces were an English rock band who were initially active between 1965 and 1969. During their original tenure, they released three studio albums, four compilation albums and fourteen singles in the United Kingdom. With the exception of the band's two first singles "Whatcha Gonna Do About It" and "I've Got Mine" (both 1965) that featured Jimmy Winston on guitar and keyboards, Small Faces had a consistent lineup of guitarist Steve Marriott, bassist Ronnie Lane, keyboardist Ian McLagan and drummer Kenney Jones. Between August 1965 and June 1968, the Small Faces scored ten top-20 singles on the UK singles chart, including seven top-10 releases, of which " All or Nothing" reached number one. Several of their singles were featured on the UK's year-end ranking, and they became the eleventh best-selling recording artist in Britain during 1966. Faces (band)
Faces are an English rock band formed in London in 1969. They were formed by members of Small Faces after lead singer and guitarist Steve Marriott left to form Humble Pie. The remaining Small Faces; Ian McLagan (keyboards), Ronnie Lane (bass, vocals), and Kenney Jones (drums and percussion) were joined by guitarist Ronnie Wood and singer Rod Stewart, both from the Jeff Beck Group, and the new line-up was renamed Faces. The group had a unique arrangement, as Rod Stewart had signed a separate solo recording contract with the Mercury label shortly before joining the group, which was signed to Warner Bros. Band members often contributed to Stewart's solo albums as contract players, and Faces live shows of the period would feature as much of Stewart's solo material as that of the band, which later fuelled tensions amongst them when they began to effectively be viewed as Stewart's 'backing band'. Jimmy Winston
James Edward Winston Langwith (20 April 1945 – 26 September 2020), known professionally as Jimmy Winston, was an English musician and actor. He was the original keyboard player with Small Faces. Winston had apparently previously worked under the stage name James Moody. His acting credits include the 1968 stage musical ''Hair'' and the 1972 ''Doctor Who'' serial ''Day of the Daleks''. Don Arden
Don Arden (born Harry Levy; 4 January 1926 – 21 July 2007) was an English music manager, agent, and businessman. He managed the careers of rock acts such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Gene Vincent, Air Supply, Small Faces, The Move, Black Sabbath, Electric Light Orchestra, and Trickster. Arden gained a reputation in Britain for his aggressive, sometimes illegal business tactics which led to him being called "Mr Big", the "English Godfather" and the "Al Capone of Pop". His success story turned sour when his violent 'negotiating' methods and questionable accounting caught up with him, and he became estranged from members of his own family. Humble Pie are an English Rock music, rock band formed by Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton in Moreton, Essex, in 1969. Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake
''Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake'' is the third studio album, and only concept album by the English rock band Small Faces. Released on 24 May 1968, the LP peaked at number one in the UK on the ''Record Retailer'' LPs Chart, where it remained for six weeks. It became the group's final studio album during their original incarnation (and the last album to contain solely new material until the release of reunion album ''Playmates'' in 1977). The album title and distinctive packaging design was a parody of Ogden's Nut-brown Flake, a brand of tinned tobacco that was produced in Liverpool from 1899 by Thomas Ogden. Itchycoo Park
"Itchycoo Park" is a song by English rock band Small Faces, written by Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane. Largely written by Lane, it was among a number of pop songs of the era to make use of flanging, an effect involving, at that time, electro-mechanical processes. The song was not included on any of their UK albums, but was however featured on the North American release ''There Are But Four Small Faces'' (1968). Released on 4 August 1967 by Immediate Records, the song was Small Faces' fifth top-ten song in the UK Singles Chart, reaching a position of number three.
