Alastair Smales
Alastair Smales was born on 8 May 1962, in Australia. He lost the use of his legs in 1992 becoming a paraplegic after a four-wheel drive he was fixing slipped off a jack and fell on him. Due to this injury, Smales is now classified a S6 wheelchair grade in swimming competitions. Smales has represented Australia in three consecutive Paralympics in swimming, held a world record at the IPC Swimming World Championships Mar de Plata in 2002 and ranked 1 in his classification. Smales swimming career started in 1996 and ended in 2004 due to his age and inability to keep up with the other swimmers. He was a member of the Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association and trained at the Redcliffe Leagues Lawnton Club. After retiring from swimming, Smales pursued a career in air traffic control. Daniel Smales (born 21 October 1990) is an English actor. His work includes a range of stage and film. Career Smales auditioned and gained a place to study musical theatre at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. He was also accepted into Royal Academy of Music, but was forced to turn his place down due to not being able to fund his place. Following that decision, he embarked on his passion for film. His first film role was for Death Walks (2016) independent film developed by first-time writer and director Spencer Hawken. He auditioned for the role of "Steve", the shop assistant, alongside love interest "Louise" ( Lucinda Rhodes). He played the character of "Kevin" a journalist in No Reasons (2016). Kenneth Smales
Kenneth Smales (15 September 1927 – 10 March 2015) was an English former first-class cricketer, who played thirteen games for Yorkshire County Cricket Club from 1948 to 1950, and 148 matches for Nottinghamshire from 1951 to 1958. He was born in Horsforth, Leeds, Yorkshire, England. A right arm, off break bowler, he took 389 wickets at 30.70, with a best of all ten for 66 against Gloucestershire at Stroud. He took five wickets in an innings twenty times and 10 wickets in a match on five occasions. He scored 2,512 runs at 14.43, with a best of 64 against Glamorgan, one of four fifties he compiled. He took 60 catches in the field. He had one hat-trick to his name against Lancashire at Trent Bridge.
