Sluitingsprijs Oostmalle
The Internationale Sluitingsprijs Oostmalle is a cyclo-cross race held in Oostmalle, Belgium, which was part of the Cyclo-cross Trophy until 2014. Since the 2014-2015 season it became an independent race but still with the back-up from the UCI. It is traditionally the last important race of the cyclo-cross season. Oostmalle
Oostmalle is a village which is located in the Belgium, Belgian province of Antwerp (province), Antwerp. The village itself is part of the municipality of Malle. Oostmalle was an independent municipality until 1976. It has a surface area of 28.27 km2 and in 2004 had 6,510 inhabitants. History See history of Malle. The Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Dutch: Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van Bijstand) at the Herentalsebaan, was built by Leonard Pierre Joseph du Bus de Gisignies in 1837. In 1930 a Lourdes cave was added to the chapel (inaugurated on 7 May 1933), and in 1934 a Stations of the Cross was added in remembrance of King Albert I of Belgium (sculptor was Simon Goossens). Thibau Nys
Thibau Nys (born 12 November 2002) is a Belgian cyclo-cross and road cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam on the road and for UCI Cyclo-cross team in cyclo-cross. Nys is the son of Sven Nys, one of the most successful cyclo-cross riders of all time. Nys has followed in his father's footsteps and has started cyclo-cross from an early age on. He has already obtained three Belgian and one European cyclo-cross title in the youth categories. On 2 February 2020, he won the men's junior title at the 2020 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships. On 11 September 2021, he added the men's U23 European Road Race Championships in Trento. As an Elite rider in the 2024/2025 season, Nys took his first European Championship and Belgium National title. Bart Wellens
Bart Wellens (born 10 August 1978) is a Belgian former professional cyclo-cross and road cyclist. He now works as the team manager of UCI Cyclo-cross Team . Career Wellens was born in Vorselaar. In the Under 23 category, Wellens battled Sven Nys. Wellens won the Under 23 Belgian championships in 1997 beating Nys while Nys got revenge at the UCI Under 23 World Cyclo-Cross championships a month later. Wellens had to settle for second place. The following year Wellens again finished second to Nys at the World Championships. Nys then left the category and Wellens became the Under 23 World Champion for two years in a row. Wellens turned professional in 2000 with the Spaar Select team. In 2002/03 season, Wellens won the World Cup and then won the Elite World Championships. Bart Aernouts (born 23 June 1982 in Essen) is a Belgian former professional cyclist who competed mainly in cyclo-cross races. Aernouts often finished only a few places behind big names such as Sven Nys, Niels Albert and Zdeněk Štybar, but occasionally managed top results in high calibre races of the Gazet van Antwerpen Trophy or the Superprestige.
