Slow Motion (Supertramp Album)
''Slow Motion'' is the eleventh and final studio album by the English rock band Supertramp, released in April 2002. Overview In North America, ''Slow Motion'' was only available via mail-order from the band's website, released on their own label. The song "Goldrush" was actually written in the early 1970s under the first Supertramp line-up, by original guitarist Richard Palmer-James, and was used as the opening number in all their shows prior to ''Crime of the Century''. The band had tried to record it on several previous occasions, but had never before been able to recreate it in the studio to their satisfaction. While the album credits the song to Davies and Palmer-James only, Roger Hodgson supposedly co-wrote it. Reception AllMusic praised the songs and diversity in styles, but criticized the production and runtime. Supertramp were a British rock band formed in London in 1970. Marked by the individual songwriting of founders Roger Hodgson (vocals, keyboards and guitars) and Rick Davies (vocals and keyboards), the group were distinguished for blending progressive rock and pop styles. The classic lineup, which lasted ten years from 1973 to 1983, consisted of Davies, Hodgson, Dougie Thomson (bass), Bob Siebenberg (drums) and John Helliwell (saxophone), after which the group's lineup changed numerous times, with Davies eventually becoming the only constant member throughout its history. The group found no success with their first two albums, but after a lineup change into what became their classic lineup, their third album, '' Crime of the Century'' (1974), was their breakthrough. Bob Siebenberg
Robert Layne Siebenberg (born October 31, 1949) also known as Bob C. Benberg, is an American musician, best known as a member of British progressive rock band Supertramp, playing drums and percussion. He was the sole American in Supertramp's lineup, joining the band in 1973. His son, Jesse, joined Supertramp at the time of the release of the live album '' It Was the Best of Times'' (live; 1999). In 1985, Siebenberg released a solo album called ''Giants in Our Own Room'' (and credited to "Siebenberg"), where he sings lead on half of the songs and also plays keyboards and drums. Clifford Clyde Hugo (born April 23, 1951 in Glendale, California), is the bass guitarist for the progressive rock band Supertramp. Carl William Verheyen (born April 3, 1954) is an American musician best known for being the guitarist of Supertramp, the leader of the Carl Verheyen Band, and as a Los Angeles session guitarist. He was ranked ''One of the World's Top 10 Guitarists'' by Guitar Magazine and won the LA Music Awards category of ''Best Guitarist'' at their 6th annual awards ceremony. John Helliwell
John Anthony Helliwell (born 15 February 1945) is an English musician, best known as the saxophonist, secondary keyboardist, and backing vocalist for the rock band Supertramp. He also served as an MC during the band's concerts, talking and making jokes to the audience between songs. Helliwell played with The Alan Bown Set, replacing Dave Green when he joined in January 1966, before joining Supertramp in 1973 along with bassist Dougie Thomson, who convinced Helliwell to make the move. In 2004, Helliwell formed the band Crème Anglaise with Mark Hart, who had joined Supertramp in 1985. This group recorded their eponymous debut album in 2005. In 1987 Helliwell played on Pink Floyd's album ''A Momentary Lapse of Reason''; his name was misspelled as "Halliwell".
