''Slow Death'' is the sixth studio album by American deathcore band Carnifex. It was released on August 5, 2016, through Nuclear Blast and was produced by Jason Suecof. Background and recording On November 3, 2014, Carnifex announced that they are working on new material for the forthcoming album. On September 3, 2015, vocalist Scott Lewis stated during an interview that the band will be releasing their new album in the summer of 2016. On January 14, 2016, the group announced that the album is in pre-production. On February 16, Carnifex begun recording the new album. On February 29, a tease of a new song the band have in the works for their album was posted through their social media accounts. On April 15, the band would be filming a music video for a track from the album and were looking for fans to take part in the shoot, which took place in Los Angeles on April 24. Carnifex (band)
Carnifex is an American deathcore band from San Diego County, California. Formed in 2005, they are currently signed to Nuclear Blast after having been signed to Victory Records. They have released nine studio albums and three EPs. Since 2022, the band has consisted of founding members, lead vocalist Scott Ian Lewis and drummer Shawn Cameron, along with rhythm guitarist Cory Arford, bassist Fred Calderon and lead guitarist Neal Tiemann. History Formation and early recordings (2005–2006) Carnifex was founded in December 2005 in Fallbrook, California. They debuted their career with a self-titled EP, which was released on May 18, 2006. It features five tracks and was distributed through Enclave Records. In September 2006, Rick James and Kevin Vargas left the band. Shortly thereafter, Steve McMahon joined on bass and Travis Whiting joined on guitars. Mick Kenney
Michael "Mick" Kenney (born 18 January 1980) is a British musician and record producer. He gained popularity as the lead guitarist of the extreme metal band Anaal Nathrakh. He now releases a variety of music, including drift phonk, under the name Kordhell. Career Kenney studied Illustration at the University of Birmingham. He is a founding member of the extreme metal act Anaal Nathrakh where he started out as the lead guitarist and is now playing all the instruments. They have released a total of eleven albums since being formed in 1998. He operates Necrodeath Studios since 1999, a small recording studio situated near the centre of Birmingham, England. He relocated to Orange County, California, in 2007. There, he founded the clothing label Misanthropy Clothing in 2013. Deathcore
Deathcore is an extreme metal subgenre that combines death metal with metalcore. The genre consists of death metal guitar riffs, blast beats, and metalcore Breakdown (music)#Heavy metal and punk rock, breakdowns. While there are some precursors to the concept of death metal fused with metalcore and hardcore elements seen in the 1990s, deathcore itself emerged in the early 2000s and gained prominence beginning in the mid-2000s.
