''Slide'' is the second studio album by American electronic musician George Clanton, released on August 17, 2018 by his independent record label 100% Electronica. Background and music After releasing his debut album '' 100% Electronica'', George Clanton tried to produce a sequel to it for three years but found it difficult because he wasn't able to find the sound he wanted for it. After giving up, he started experimenting and writing stuff for fun and felt that the "songs ere writingthemselves". This material became the basis for ''Slide''. Clanton said that ''Slide'' was the first album he wrote under his own name, since his debut album was written as a Mirror Kisses record before he decided to release it under his real name. Clanton said that in ''Slide'' he did not try to be "ironic" or "silly with his lyrics", and preferred to "write great pop songs that are representative of an emotion that eactually eelswhen e'ssinging them." George Clanton
George Wayland Clanton Jr. (born January 12, 1988), also known by the monikers Mirror Kisses, ESPRIT 空想, and Kid's Garden, is an American electronic musician and singer-songwriter that emerged out of the vaporwave music scene in the early 2010s. He established his independent record label 100% Electronica in 2015, and in 2019 launched the first vaporwave music festival, 100% ElectroniCON. Biography George Clanton was born in Ridgeway, Virginia. He grew up going to punk rock shows. His career began when he accidentally downloaded a misnamed Brian Jonestown Massacre song, which led him down an Internet rabbit hole where he discovered "a whole new world of music" which inspired him to write and release his own under the pseudonym Mirror Kisses, and later ESPRIT 空想 (“fantasy” in Japanese). Vaporwave
Vaporwave is a microgenre of electronic music, a visual art style, and an Internet meme that emerged in the early 2010s and became well-known in 2015. It is defined partly by its slowed-down, chopped and screwed samples of smooth jazz, 1970s elevator music, contemporary R&B, R&B, and lounge music from the 1980s and 1990s; similar to synthwave. The surrounding subculture is sometimes associated with an ambiguous or satirical take on consumer capitalism and pop culture, and tends to be characterized by a nostalgic or surrealist engagement with the popular entertainment, technology and advertising of previous decades. Rate Your Music (often abbreviated to RYM) is an online encyclopedia of music releases and films. John Maus (born February 23, 1980) is an American musician, composer, singer, and songwriter known for his baritone singing style and his use of vintage synthesizer sounds and Medieval church modes, a combination that often draws comparisons to 1980s goth-pop.
