Sleepyhead
"Sleepyhead" is the debut single from American electronic band Passion Pit, featured on their first EP, '' Chunk of Change'', and later on their debut album ''Manners''. The single was released on September 8, 2008. When the song had been re-released on ''Manners'', it had an updated sound. The music video showcases a series of images with clapping hands, instruments and Michael Angelakos singing, all together it mimicks the animation style of a zoetrope. The song contains samples of "Óró Mo Bháidín" by Mary O'Hara and "San Francisco Scene (The Beat Generation)" by Jack Kerouac ("and everything is going to the beat"). Passion Pit is an American indie pop band from Cambridge, Massachusetts. Formed in 2007, frontman and keyboardist Michael Angelakos is the band's primary recording member. As a touring act, the band currently consists of Angelakos (vocals, synthesiser), Chris Hartz (drums), Aaron Harrison Folb (bass, synthesiser), Giuliano Pizzulo (guitar, synthesiser), and Ray Suen (guitars, synthesiser). Manners (album)
''Manners'' is the debut studio album by American electropop band Passion Pit. It was released on May 15, 2009, by Frenchkiss Records. " The Reeling" was released as the album's lead single on May 11, 2009, and its music video was premiered on YouTube on April 21, 2009. A second single, " To Kingdom Come", was released in August 2009, followed by " Little Secrets" in December 2009. " Sleepyhead" was originally included on Passion Pit's first EP, '' Chunk of Change'' (2008), but was mastered for inclusion on ''Manners'' (none of the tracks on the EP were mastered). As of December 2009, the album had sold 82,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. A deluxe edition of the album was released on April 13, 2010, containing three bonus tracks and new artwork. Michael Angelakos
Michael John Angelakos (born May 19, 1987) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the frontman of the indietronica band Passion Pit. Career Passion Pit (2008–present) The first Passion Pit songs, which would later become the '' Chunk of Change'' EP, were written by Angelakos at Emerson College as a belated Valentine's Day gift to his then-girlfriend. At first, he wrote and performed all his material alone using a laptop. After one of his solo shows in the Boston area, Ian Hultquist, who was attending Berklee at the time, approached Angelakos and expressed interest in creating and playing music collaboratively. They formed a group that consisted of Angelakos, Hultquist, Ayad Al Adhamy, Thom Plasse (bass), and Adam Lavinsky (drums). ''Chunk of Change'' is the debut extended play (EP) by American electropop band Passion Pit, released on September 16, 2008, by Frenchkiss Records and Columbia Records. A video for the single " Sleepyhead" was released in October 2008, directed by The Wilderness. The track was featured in the debut trailer for the 2011 video game ''LittleBigPlanet 2''. "Better Things" was sampled by the alternative hip hop duo Chiddy Bang for their 2009 song "Truth". The Reeling
"The Reeling" is a song by American electronic band Passion Pit. It was released on May 11, 2009, as the first single from the band's debut studio album, ''Manners''. The song features background vocals from the PS22 Chorus. Generally well received by music critics, the single entered the ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs chart in September 2009. In the United Kingdom, the single originally peaked at number 137, but was re-issued in January 2010, where it performed slightly better at number 99. Mary O'Hara
Mary O'Hara (born 12 May 1935) is an Irish soprano and harpist from County Sligo. She gained attention on both sides of the Atlantic in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Her recordings of that period influenced a generation of Irish female singers who credit O'Hara with influencing their style, among them Carmel Quinn, Mary Black and Moya Brennan.
