Sleeping Dogs Lie (1998 Film)
''Sleeping Dogs Lie'' is a 1998 film produced by Sullivan Entertainment and based on the true-life story of Ambrose Small, a Toronto millionaire who went missing after selling his chain of burlesque theatres for $1.7 million to Loew's movie theatres. The film is inspired by the book ''The Strange Case of Ambrose Small'' by Fred McClement. It stars Wendy Crewson as ''Mrs. Theresa Small''. The character of Ambrose Small also appears as a major character in the Michael Ondaatje novel, ''In the Skin of a Lion''. Leon Pownall
Leon Pownall (April 26, 1943 – June 2, 2006) was a Welsh-Canadian actor and director. He was born in Wrexham, Wales and moved to Hamilton, Ontario with his family in 1957. He performed at the Stratford Festival during the 1960s and returned several times to the festival over the years to perform, the last time in 2002 as a director. Pownall wrote and performed a one-man play, ''Do Not Go Gentle'', about Dylan Thomas. Geraint Wyn Davies later performed this work off-Broadway in 2005 and at the Stratford Festival in 2010. His film credits include ''Dead Poets Society'' (1989), in which he shared the screen with Robin Williams, as well as the title role in ''Handel's Last Chance'' (1996) and a supporting role in the Golden Globe-winning ''Dirty Pictures'' (2000). Cedric Smith is an English Canadian actor and musician. He portrayed Alec King in the CBC television series ''Road to Avonlea'', and was the voice of Charles Xavier / Professor X (and other characters) in the '' X-Men: The Animated Series''. Music Born in Bournemouth, Hampshire (now Dorset), England, Smith moved to Canada when he was about 10 years old. In 1961, he dropped out of high school to become a full-time folk singer. He was a member of the folk group Perth County Conspiracy, and wrote several songs that were performed and recorded by the band.
