Mark Slavens (born December 31, 1954) is an American politician from Canton, Michigan. He is currently a Circuit Court Judge. Slavens attained a BGS from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo. He graduated from Ann Arbor Huron High School in Michigan. Wayne County Third Circuit Court On April 23, 2007, Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm appointed Slavens to the Third Circuit Court of Wayne County. He filled the unexpired term of the Honorable Maggie Drake, who stepped down effective January 1, 2007. Drake, who had been re-elected during the 2004 general election, would have otherwise served until 2010. As a result, Slavens' term will be up for election during the 2008 general election for the remainder of the term. He was re-elected to the Wayne County Circuit Court in 2010 and 2016. Samuel Slavens
Samuel Slavens ( – June 18, 1862) was a participant in the Andrew's Raid and a recipient of the Medal of Honor. Biography Slavens' birth is often disputed, with most sources listing it as 1830 or 1831. He was born in Pike County, Ohio. He served as a private in Company E of the 33rd Ohio Infantry. In April 1862, he was one of 22 Union soldiers who took part in the Great Locomotive Chase in Georgia under the direction of civilian scout James J. Andrews. Slavens was one of eight raiders including Andrews to be executed for spying. Samuel Slavens was hanged on June 18, 1862, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was buried in Atlanta and was later reburied in Chattanooga National Cemetery. William Slavens McNutt (September 12, 1885 – January 25, 1938), was an American screenwriter. He wrote for 28 films between 1922 and 1939. He was nominated for an Academy Award on two occasions. Dian Slavens (born March 12, 1958) is a Democratic politician from Michigan who served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015. Slavens represented the 21st House District, which includes Canton Township, Belleville and Van Buren Township. Pēteris Slavens (russian: Славен, Пётр Антонович, ''Slaven, Pyotr Antonovich'') (Cēsis, 5 April 1874 – Valmiera, 14 November 1919) was a Latvian Soviet military commander, who fought in the Russian Civil War. Military career Slavens attended from 1893 a Junker-school and entered in the Tsarist Army. In 1917, he retired as a regimental commander for health reasons and was in various hospitals for treatment. After the October Revolution, he was forcibly re-activated by the Red Army in the summer of 1918, despite his poor health. He commanded first a division, then from August the 5th Army in the East, and until January 1919 the Southern Front in the Russian Civil War. Because of illness, Slavens went to Riga, where from March he again had to take up the command of the Soviet Latvian Army.
