Slatersville Reservoir
Slatersville Reservoir is a large lake in the village of Slatersville in the town of North Smithfield in Providence County, Rhode Island. The Slatersville Reservoir was created for use by the nearby Slater family's textile mills when a "larger dam, known as the Middle Dam, was built in 1849. It is long, and creates a drop. Behind the dam is the Lower Slatersville Reservoir. The smaller dam was built later to increase the water power. Woonsocket And Pascoag Railroad
The Woonsocket and Pascoag Railroad was a historic railroad that operated between Woonsocket, Rhode Island and Pascoag, Rhode Island. Its remaining tracks from Woonsocket to Slatersville are now owned and operated by the Providence and Worcester Railroad. The Woonsocket and Pascoag Railroad was likely founded and constructed in 1891 and was later officially acquired by the New York and New England Railroad. Slatersville is a village on the Branch River in the town of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, United States. It includes the Slatersville Historic District, a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic district has been included as part of the Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park. The North Smithfield Public Library is located in Slatersville. Slatersville was associated with and named for Samuel Slater and John Slater, members of the well-known Slater family.
