Skævinge Municipality
Skævinge is a town with a population of 3,014 (1 January 2025) and a former municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in Hillerød municipality in Capital Region of Denmark in the northern part of the island of Sealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The former Skævinge municipality covered an area of 68 km², and had a total population of 6,046 (2005). On 1 January 2007 Skævinge municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged into existing Hillerød municipality. This created a municipality with an area of and a total population of around 43,337. Geography Strø Bjerge, North Zealand's largest esker, is located a few kilometres to the west of Skævinge. 1970 Danish Municipal Reform
The 1970 Danish Municipal Reform was an extensive administrative reform in Denmark which on 1 April 1970 reduced the number of Danish municipalities from 1,098 to 277 and the number of counties from 25 to 14. The reform also abolished the last legal privileges of the market towns ( sing. Danish: ''købstad''). The 1970 reform was followed by another municipal reform in 2007, namely the Structural Reform. This reform would further reduce the number of municipalities in Denmark, and replace the counties with regions. Tina Lund
Tina Lund (born 1981 in Dallas, Texas) is a Danish professional equestrian (show jumper) living in Skævinge, Nordsjælland in Denmark. Tina Lund is 19 times Danish Champion, three times Nordic Champion, and one time European Champion for "young riders" (riders under the age of 21). She was also the most winning Danish rider in 2006, and today the only rider to win the Nordic championship, Danish Championship and the European Championship in the same year. The 1900 Summer Olympics (), today officially known as the Games of the II Olympiad () and also known as Paris 1900, were an international multi-sport event that took place in Paris, France, from 14 May to 28 October 1900. No opening or closing ceremonies were held. At the Olympic Congress of 1894, which convened in the Sorbonne (building), Sorbonne building, Pierre de Coubertin proposed that the Olympic Games should take place in Paris in 1900. However, the delegates to the conference were unwilling to wait six years and lobbied to hold the first games in 1896. A decision was made to hold the 1896 Summer Olympics, first Olympic Games in 1896 in Athens and have Paris host the second Games. Frederiksværk Railway Line
Frederiksværk is a town with a population of 12,837 (1 January 2025) in Halsnæs Municipality on Zealand in Region Hovedstaden in Denmark. History A French cannon founder, Peyrembert, received permission to build a cannon factory here. Having gotten into difficulties, King Frederik V requested that his chancellery advisor, Johan Frederik Classen, take over the operation of the foundry. Under Classen's management the town blossomed, and there came a gunpowder mill, as well as light industry and handicrafts to the town. This resulted in Classen's being appointed major general. On 25 August 1756 the king issued a document permitting Classen to call the town "Friederichswerk". Classen was allowed to build a new foundry, Gjethuset, and it was constructed between 1761 and 1767. It has been used as a cannon foundry until 1928, and has been used for heavy industry until 1976. Netto () is a Denmark, Danish discount supermarket brand operating in Denmark, Germany and Poland. Netto is a part of the Salling Group. History Denmark The first Netto store opened in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1981. Initially items for sale sat in boxes and on pallets, but the chain quickly expanded and the service level increased.
