Skyline Drive is a road in Northern New Jersey, between Interstate 287 (I-287) in Oakland, New Jersey, Oakland, Bergen County, New Jersey, Bergen County and County Route 511 (New Jersey), County Route 511 (CR 511) in Ringwood, New Jersey, Ringwood, Passaic County, New Jersey, Passaic County, passing through Ringwood State Park in the Ramapo Mountains. Ramapo River
The Ramapo River is a tributary of the Pompton River, approximately 30 mi (48 km) long, in southern New York and northern New Jersey in the United States. Course The Ramapo river rises in Round Lake, a small freshwater lake in the Town of Monroe, New York, in a mountainous area of central Orange County, New York. It flows southeast through the village, where the river was dammed in 1741 for a sawmill and grist mill. It continues to Harriman, where a chemical plant, Nepera Chemical, was built. Greenwood Lake is an interstate lake approximately long, straddling the border of New York and New Jersey. It is located in the Town of Warwick and the Village of Greenwood Lake, New York (in Orange County) and West Milford, New Jersey (in Passaic County). It is the source of the Wanaque River. Route 208 is a state highway in the northern part of New Jersey in the United States. It runs from an interchange with Route 4 and County Route 79 (CR 79, Saddle River Road) in Fair Lawn northwest to an interchange with Interstate 287 (I-287) in Oakland. The route runs through suburban areas of Bergen and Passaic counties as a four- to six-lane divided highway. It is a limited-access road, as intersections with cross roads are controlled by interchanges, but is not a controlled access road as several driveways exist. 1953 New Jersey State Highway Renumbering
On January 1, 1953, the New Jersey Highway Department renumbered many of the State Routes. This renumbering was first proposed in 1951 in order to reduce confusion to motorists. A few rules were followed in deciding what to renumber: *No state route and U.S. Route could have the same number; this eliminated 1 (which was also eliminated by other criteria), 22, 30, 40 and 46. While Route 1 was broken into several pieces, the other four were renumbered as Routes 59, 69, 70 and 77, respectively.
