Skowa
Marco Antônio Gonçalves dos Santos (December 13, 1955 – June 13, 2024), better known as Skowa, was a Brazilian singer-songwriter and musician. Biography Skowa was born in São Paulo, on December 13, 1955; his stage name is an allusion to the Portuguese-language word for "brush", "escova", referencing his iconic afro hairstyle. As a teenager he learned how to play the classical guitar, and began to play professionally in 1975, when he would join the rock bands Sossega Leão and Premê (at the time known as "Premeditando o Breque"). In the early 1980s he collaborated with Itamar Assumpção and the new wave band Gang 90 e as Absurdettes. In 1984 he hosted two radio programs for the USP FM, ''Caribe 38'' and ''Rapazes da Banda'', the latter one being a talk show. In 1987 he founded the influential soul band Skowa e a Máfia, which released two albums before disbanding in 1991 and reuniting in 2006. Trio Mocotó
Trio Mocotó is a Brazilian band, originally formed in 1968 in the Jogral nightclub in São Paulo, and reformed in 2000. The group was influential in forming the musical style that became known as samba rock or sambalanço. In 1969, they were backing Jorge Ben, being featured on seminal albums '' Fôrça Bruta'', '' Negro É Lindo'' and '' A Tábua de Esmeralda''. In 1971, they had a hit with the single "Coqueiro Verde" (written by Erasmo Carlos). Their return to the studios with ''Samba Rock'' in 2001 was followed by tours and live appearance in main music festivals in Europe and Japan, with renewed energy and public. The group received in 2001 the APCA (São Paulo Art Critics Association) award for Best Group, and in 2006 Nereu's album as solo artist "Samba Power" received again the APCA, this time with Best Album of the Year. Maurício Pereira
Maurício Pereira (born November 8, 1959) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, lyricist, journalist, saxophonist, Announcer#Television and other media, television announcer, stage actor and record producer best known for his work with experimental rock duo Os Mulheres Negras. Biography Pereira was born in São Paulo on November 8, 1959. He met musician André Abujamra (son of actor Antônio Abujamra) in 1984, and in the following year they formed Os Mulheres Negras. The duo released two albums, ''Música e Ciência'' (1988) and ''Música Serve pra Isso'' (1990), through Warner Music Group, WEA (present-day Warner Music Group) before disbanding in 1991. Both musicians then began their respective solo careers, with Pereira becoming Marcelo Rubens Paiva's bandleader for his talk show ''Fanzine'', hosted by TV Cultura in the early 1990s.
